I could understand that you might expect it. I'd be surprised if everyone else generally expects it. My understanding is that the 17T ViV turbos have actually been reasonably good QC, from those running them.

A bit of a update on my end.
Viv-Autoparts contacted me yesterday with the following.

- The first batch of TD04 turbos the bearing housing was modified from other turbos.
- A customers sample showed there was an issue with the oil fitting that was welded to the housing and this this could be prone to failure.
- Viv-Autoparts asked the factory to stop supplying the 19T until this is fixed.
- The factory is going to develop a new mold for the upgraded bearing housing to correct this issue.
- Lead time is 20 days.
- Picture below of welded nut they are referencing
So basically people are spending $1,000 and 20 hours of install time, then probably another 20 hours to deal with the issue, then 20 hours to do a second install ...
Why doesn't everyone think being an alpha tester is worth spending $1,000? I just don't get it.

@fmorelli - No offence taken and completely agree. Turbos with VSR for the 19T would of been a 1k turbos slap on an done (Hopefully). But clipping wheels, updating journal bearings, polishing turbine shafts that way past the cost effectiveness of a simple china turbo.
I have already canceled my order contacted Jpworkz (Fingers Corssed - PP and CC protection) to inquire about a E6X kit. So yes moving in a different direction I'm not waiting 40+ days for some new turbos.
If only I still had a 335i that CES kit would be on by now.

The guys at pmp had to replace and re weld nuts for oil feed as they didn’t hold at all. Outlets had to be bent/manipulated as the angle of the rear turbo wasn’t quite right.( silicone ones would be ok I think.) apart from that all good.
Driving,
The car sounds different from the get go. You can hear the turbos spooling up straight away.(good thing?!?.)
Turbos spool up quickly and car pulls hard. I haven’t pushed the Revs over 4K yet as recommended by pmp until I get base map sorted. (Doing tonight.)
Overall I’m pleased so far and have about 250miles on them already. Everything seems good so far. Will get map on ASAP and get some pulls done for you all to see.

I can't imagine rolling the dice on a set of cheap turbos when you are paying labor to install them.
I don't have contacts in my town to Install turbos let alone re-machine them.
Heck... years ago paying my local BMW dealer to install downpipes in my xi was a good deal.

The 17t turbos claimed 700bhp and @Noxide got 654bhp 660lbft @27psi on a conservative Dyno Dynamics. Meth injection but no e85.
Not enough have tried the 19t to really make a conclusion
Dynos are a tuning tool . Its good when we see real world performance, that claimed dyno ought to run an easy 10 . 17t chinas are getting some power at least , albeit for the spec they seem to have to work harder than brand names boost wise.
Not wanting to start a war but I find anything quoted by people in the USA inflated to the max. So when people state it makes 500whp I just take that as BHP. Loads of posts across different platforms show a similar trend, like for like mods people across the pond make 10--20% more power which is unlikely.
A stock turbo FBO n54 on 93 makes 500BHP. 20% drive train loss = 400whp. Add inlets, outlets, full E85, 500whp on a dynojet 600BHP. If anything I see most foreign dynos reading higher than what a car on a dynojet here in the states would produce.
As long as people are quoting dynojet numbers they should be somewhat comparable.
Unless I am mistaken no one talks in BHP except the turbo manufacturers who claim 800-1k turbos etc. Like technically I run a 900hp turbo. No one is going to make 900whp on a 6466 on an n54.
A stock turbo FBO n54 on 93 will never see 500BHP, not in a million years. 400-425 BHP. (sample - many many cars over here in the UK with stock turbos FBO on 93).

the 'engine power' calculations you guys do off of a dyno boggles my mind, why put even more variables in the mix? you're just guessing the driveline loss and throwing it on the dyno number that is already variable based on the dyno you're using. i dont get it, just quote the number it measures instead.
