The BMW Turbo world is a strange one to me. Probably compounded by the fact that many people in that world are cross-overs from other turbo worlds, to which I lack experience. It's fascinating to me how people do the, "xxx whp, 28psi, #sendit" blah blah blah ... and then shit hits the fan and, where's the product failure? Obviously SOMEONE ELSE screwed up, right?
I used to be involved in 24 hour road racing. In 24-hours, we would completely wear out a race car. Yes ... 24 hours of constant abuse - a car that in stock form would be driven pedestrian style for 8 years and 150k miles ... in race trim, worn out in 24 hours. Our GT class sprint road cars ... the motors came apart every 1-2 years. We're talking a few thousand miles.
In this world there seems to be little conscious engagement on how to build safe, reliable power on a competent, reliable chassis, drivetrain, and suspension (a complicated conversation) and what to practically expect in certain use cases.
