Almost nothing we do to our cars are designed for street duty. And if you want an explanation as to why these oils are suitable for these cars I'd just say to go read the FP Oil primer that is sent out by both FP and VTT (I think, I know Tony quotes it often) when you purchase their turbos.

I went ahead and uploaded the FP Oil Recommendation PDF to the docs section here so everyone has it for posterity. It is 7y old, so the suggested oils in the included list may not be the most accurate right now, but the explanation of what type of oil is needed for our engines and the associated oil properties to look for still apply.
And as noted by @9krpmrx8 this type of oil is not good for cat's, nor is it designed for 10,000mi oil change intervals. So treat your engine as such and change the oil at more regular intervals.

I used OEM oil while my car was under warranty, then M1 until recently when I switched to Rotella T6. The main reason I switched was because I plan to track the car and M1 is fairly thin for our hot summer temps, and also my engine was always a little chattery running M1 compared to the OEM oil. The engine definitely seems quieter with Rotella, but it also seems like it runs a few degrees warmer. Going forward I'm going to run M1 in winter where it has a superior cold pour point for those -30*C startups and T6 in summer.
I use good quality oil and test, there are so many opinions. Chattery is something to note but compare test results and see what the numbers are. I ran Rotella T6 in my turbo RX-8 for while, it tested okay, but not as good (and not bad either in comparison) as M1 0W-40. And there are better oils than M1 as well, for me it's the best oil I can get without much hassle and I change my oil a lot (pointless really but that's just me).
I'd like to try the M1 small diesel pickup stuff as well to see if the formulation is any different.

I'm catless, my secondary cats are there but not for long. Also live in the desert so a 0w oil doesn't seem necessary to me.
They typically just have fewer detergents so you have to change it often. If you have a cat converter etc, then it can be an issue due to the much higher percentage of additives. It is also not good in terms of emissions but I doubt to the point that it would make you fail a sniffer test if you have those where you live.
I don't mind changing the oil often, I only got about 5k miles on my car in the last year. I don't care about my cats, though the smell can get annoying in certain cases. We don't have a sniffer, just an OBD hookup and basic visual inspection, primarily just the gas cap pressure test.

I got a case of Brad PennGrade 1 10w-40. I assume this is the same type of oil listed in this chart and would be what I want, correct? Its listed as a partial synthetic as well.

I ran factory oil while the car was under warranty. After the warranty expired immediately switch to M1, honestly hated it. Car motor was louder than ever and my oil temps were higher(not sure why). After few oil changed tried Luquid Molly and had basically same result. Now I'm single turbo 26psi and car loves that Rotella T6, run it on my Hayabusa and Jeep too.
How did this work out for you? I've been running Liqui-Moly High Tech 5W-40 since I've owned the car, no issues and I like it but it's got to be ordered and is a little pricier. I have a couple gallons of Rotella T6 from my E36 M3 days that I'm tempted to use at my next change. Cheap and available at Walmart.
8100 is great oil tho!
Ughhh. Everyone switching to t6 really has me considering it but i really like 8100.
Why is Castrol 0W40 A3/B4 not on the list? One of the few real PAO synthetics here in this thread.
