Be sure to check the hose coupler at the block near the OFH. That is the plastic fitting that cracks or blows apart.
Also when replacing with the aluminum part, make sure to use a new o-ring and that it goes in straight and doesn’t get pinched. That’ll leak for sure. (Ask me how I know - doh!)

I always recommend a bit of lubricant on any o-ring, just a bit on two fingers and run over the whole o-ring. I use white lithium grease.

Sorry to revive a dead thread. Dealing with coolant boiling through the res cap so suspecting a water pump is in my future.

How’s the Piersburg aluminum one treating those who have it?

Another two years has passed since the last update and I reckon I’m due for a new pump and thermostat…
These are good ?
Is there a metal thermostat available ?

The waterpump i initially posted about in 2019 doesn't seem to get sold in aluminum variants anymore at my O'reillys store. I don't have much of a say since that lifetime warranty has paid for itself thrice over so far.

I actually ended up having electrical reliability issues with my aluminum one and I heard that the Pierburg aluminum ones are similar. Though since I am back to the plastic pump, it has developed the same exact crack and I had to go out and get a new one last week. The lifetime warranty is forsure awesome.

Thanks for replying but Damn that’s disappointing
Did your car have any oil leaks that might’ve led to the pump gasket swelling ?
