Looks more like a supercharger. Not sure why that would be surprising though. They’re both centrifugal pumps.I always found the N54 water pump strange. It looks like a turbo.

Why’d you move backwards from the b58?New to the N54 scene. I came from the B58 and M57.

it’s fairly cheap to modify and race at the track
Money who ?oh. oh my.
oh. oh my.
Haha I was waiting for someone to say something. It's all fun and games until your belt gets sucked into your oil pan.
Oh yeah, that's only one of the problems. Gotta love the unicorn tear engine mount for the iS as well!
I am 'building' up my 335is for the track. Cheap is not what I have been experiencing.
What is this engine mount issue the IS deal with? Well once it's done I'm sure it'll be worth it.
Oh, just price. BMW strengthened the mount on passenger side (more solid rubber) and charge a stupid amount of money for it compared to the 335i 'originals'. Talking $450+ the past couple years compared to ~$60 for 335i mounts. We've scored some 'sales' on this mount, which is how I am running a replacement.
Wouldn't something like this be a better to run if the IS mount needed to be replaced? https://store.034motorsport.com/motor-mount-street-density-line-bmw-n54-n55-passenger-side.html
I have their transmission mounts, but have not installed it yet.

Anyone try these out yet? I’m due for a new water pump while changing out my turbos and I was looking to see if there is a “better” than oem option.
Those were my exact thoughts I just always freak out a little buying non oem stuff hahaIts both oem and better than oem at the same time. Pierburg is an oem supplier for bmw so its the best option to go with
Just be careful on what "OEM" means. A lot of people get this confused. OEM technically means the manufacture makes SOMETHING for the brand. Anything really. It does not mean they make that specific part. I'm not saying that in this case, but in general. One can care about whether a manufacture is an OEM relationship to the brand ... versus the OEM for that specific part. It's not the same thing - does not ensure quality equivalence with the original part. Again not saying this about this specific water pump, just a general observation. Its both oem and better than oem at the same time. My favorite will always be the TRW M3 arms with the bmw logo grinded off.Just be careful on what "OEM" means. A lot of people get this confused. Before that ... it was Lemforder with the BMW ground off. That's component OEM .... no question lol.My favorite will always be the TRW M3 arms with the bmw logo grinded off.
Very well put. I think I’m going to give it a shotJust be careful on what "OEM" means. A lot of people get this confused. OEM technically means the manufacture makes SOMETHING for the brand. Half price for the same part. Can never go wrong with that. Funny enough i remember from when i was working at a auto body place, their is also a brand called Oem. So you'd get OEM body parts just not from the OEM you expected. Before that ... it was Lemforder with the BMW ground off. That's component OEM .... no question lol.
