Good to know..will be fitting mine this winter with my new upgraded LPFP..Just an FYI, I have been running the ET3designs EKPM3 for 3 months or so with no issues with my PR stage 2.5. We shall see how it goes.
Oh this is "cool", and the first I have heard of this. Any chance you grabbed a pic of the inside of the module? I am curious if they changed the entire PCB or just replaced some SMD components.Just an FYI, I have been running the ET3designs EKPM3 for 3 months or so with no issues with my PR stage 2.5. It’s the same board, the main chip, the PWM driver and logic has been replaced by its later, more capable, pin compatible cousin..maybe revisions to incoming power stabilising circuit chip…old main chip shown for reference alsoOh this is "cool", and the first I have heard of this. Yeah my guess is that it doesn't take much to do what he did, he also sells two versions. But getting a BMP4 is impossible and I needed something.I like how you can't read the new chip he installed
With some sleuthing I am sure someone can find out exactly what chip he used. Probably costs a couple bucks and 2 minutes with an iron.
Is this really needed if you use a 535 pump + actively cool the EKP + a few heat sinks? If you need a 2nd pump use BMP4 or a relay + harness.
If you look in the OEM semiconductor catalogue you can see that the original IC was discontinued some time ago and is typical they offer a faster / better version..usually to ease the pain of their customers they try and make it pin compatible to save reworking the board…I can give you the new IC reference if you are interested…usually the problem with these types of chips is that minimum numbers are circa 1,000….I like how you can't read the new chip he installed

Here you go…Sure why not!
I wonder if I can order a lower number through my company...for 'testing/engineering' purposes.
I have spare EKPs but I have no desire to make a competitive product. But if I can mod a few and send them out and they work for people, free mod for the community. Granted they would need a supply of those chips.
Going back to my question is there any need $315 modified EKP? If one uses a EKP + the $15 cooling mods(thermal pad, heat sink, fan) + a 535 walbro doesn't that work to fix the EKP overheating issues? After that you use a relay + harness for your 2nd pump($75 bucks from PR) or buy a BMP4.
I had a walbro 450 and my stock EKP from 2007 and never once had an issue.
Here you go…
You may have to do some other minor discrete logic and firmware changes…
I’m a hobbyist level electronics guy and spent several years in the semiconductor and fab business but figured I could do more productive things with my time …
Enjoy
They're the same ekps just different amazon vendors I believe. Et3 ekp is the only one that's been physically upgraded. Now how much longer will et3 last compared to the others idk. But For the price of et3 stg 2 you could buy minimum 7 if not 8 $50 eBay ekps, Which seems to last for many people with upgraded pumps about a year.Seems like there are several players / options on this thread?
