hmmm thats odd, maybe it has to do with the age. How many miles were on it stock? When new and paired with a SMFW, ive always heard of the 335is/550i holding over 500LB Ft or torque at the wheels with no problems. In the dinan stage 3 upgrade package for the 550i, it pushes around 581 lb ft of torque and it uses the stock clutch, dinan never recommends an upgraded clutch for that package, So id say its a pretty damn strong clutch for being oem and def considered an upgrade from stock IMO.
If you haven't already seen it, Suspenseful has an amazing website and documentation of the 335is doing well. Heres a link http://my1series.com/2017/01/01/bmw-335is-550i-clutch-upgrade/
But maybe I should just jump straight to a spec stage 3+ when I do my clutch, still have 100% decided. It all depends if I'm going to eventually do a turbo upgrade or not
