So we just got home from the 1/2 mile. I think overall it was a success. Besides the transmission we were also tested quite a few other products and techniques with very limited time to get it dialed in where we wanted. The 15" wheels, drags, and brakes never made it on the tranny cooler never made it on and we were changing the oil at 3am this morning in preparation. As much as Jason is mad at me right now for not getting the tranny cooler installed i think it was probably a worse case true test. With peak ATF temp hitting 372*F and still throwing 27+ at it during 5th gear shift and it still didnt skip a beat. Unfortunately we were plagued with a misfire in cyl 6 when pushing beyond 180 load (30ish PSI) we had to dial it back (yes gaps are 0.016", coils are new, inj are new, and HPFP was 2200+). It seems to be the infamous kickdown misfire but we have a stop on the throttle and i did 12 runs in a row yesterday @30+psi with no issues. Of course race day is a different story. Jimmie managed to get a respectable 161.8mph in a standing half on a full weight car. This was his first time participating along with the cars. Its a DD and besides throwing drag radials on it its how he drives it every day. Meanwhile i'll try to work the kinks out with the infamous kick down misfire and see if we cant continue cranking it up. 3rd gear was giving us the trouble so i had to keep load down in 3rd and pick it back up in 4th and 5th, hence the load by gear taper. Theres a few things i want to try to resolve this issue but i wasnt comfortable making the large changes required at the track. Most importantly the car still runs and drives like it did when it rolled in. Heres a few pics to highlight the important info.
Huge shoutout to:
Jimmie! for feeling the pain of being a beta tester for quite a few things. It help unload my car of some duties.
Jason@Propulsive dynamics for finally providing a very affordable AT upgrade that can absolutely take a beating.
Motiv For hardware and software. It continues to prove its self over and over.
