@Alturiak thought I'd check in and see how your car is running? Are you still running this short intake with the re-located maf? I'm considering a kit with that style intake and was curious if it's been working reliably for you.
Did you find a kit?

Well, I did find a new candidate - 4n Motorsport just released an n55 kit:

I don't want to thread-jack too much, so I'll just drop some related links of mine. Here's a thread I started for researching fit on my e84 chassis vs. E9x/e82, the 4n comes up on page 7:

Since 4n Motorsport seems to specialize in s55, I posted a thread over in the s55 forum to see if any of those guys had heard about 4n:

Thanks. I have seen that recently. Wonder if they would just sell the intake pipe separately.

@wheela So far everything has been great! I was having issues that I narrowed down to the PR coils, so I switched to the B58 coils and changed the filter to a CTS Turbo with a velocity stack. I'm pretty happy with the new components and think this may be it's final form (at least for now lol). Here's a fairly updated pic of the engine bay now:

Everything has been good so far though! Installing a Motiv Reflex+ over the next few days and then I think my mods will be done for quite some time til Justin at Twisted finishes my tunes. What is the kit you are looking at?

Nice, good to hear it's working out well for you! What all are you planning on controlling with the Reflex+? Are you still on PS2 turbo?

I'm not sure, perhaps? I can't tell from the pic if it incorporates the MAF, or if it's set up for just running speed density? I think I'd want to keep my MAF.

At the moment I am. I'm impatiently waiting for Motiv and MHD team to get the E series N55 canbus integration released so I can get fail safe control with the DME. I also added a low pressure fuel sensor which is critical for figuring out fuel system hiccups, and the E content will be able to be logged in MHD once the integration is available. I also like the sequential firing, as I was finding some carbon deposits on a couple valves (nothing major, but notable) that I suspect was more due to batch fire pooling. I may do a wiring write-up on the install too since I couldn't find anyone that has done it and posted it

And yeah still on PS2. Want to go stage 3 or equivalent when the time comes :)
@Alturiak , do you remember what size hose you used to go from the valve cover to the intake? Or what size fitting is on the intake for the hose?
The size hose you'll want for the valve cover inlet is 1" and the fitting for the intake hose is really whatever you want it to be. I reused my BMS adapter though and that used 3/4" hose. I got lucky and found online a 90 degree reducing elbow that fit almost perfectly for my setup lol

Do you have a link to this "90 degree reducing elbow"? I'm looking for something just like that as I want to remove the BMS catch-can which honestly does catch anything, and not go back the to stock PVC heater fitting. I'll also keep the BMS intake fitting and connect directly to the value cover, for a future/better intake.

Do you mean the catch can doesn't catch anything? If you ditch the pcv hose with heating element, what do you do with the electrical plug? Do you get any codes not having it hooked up to anything?

What I mean by "not catching anything" is that the N55 doesn't really seem to have a blow-by issue as the entire time I've had in on the car, which is almost 8 years, it probably hasn't caught enough to even fill the container full 1 time, so right now it's just taking up space. I don't have codes but I have the heating element still connected but zip-tied off to the side. You could probably get a resister to put in place of the heating element which would be a lot cleaner than my solution, but I have it tucked away and even forget about it until I talk about the catch can, lol.

Gotcha. Yeah, I agree with minimal blow-by on the n55. I got my intake valves walnut blasted at 60k miles just for peice of mind, and they weren't bad at all. Totally could have waited.

Yeah when I did my PI upgrade my valves were pretty clean so I didn't do anything and by now they should be spotless thanks to running E50 and PI, lol.

Been working on a hot side intake with a couple of members. Going to 3d print it. This is the first attempt which will need changes but it’s good enough to test driveability and verify it works. Hoping to test it out this week.

After testing this version, will probably wait until I move my expansion tank to the drivers side before finalizing the routing of the intake. Really cool. Hoping it works!

Let me know on this, I am doing the S55 intercooler setup and cutting and using the MAF section of the Injen for an intake but I would like a solution that integrates the PCV hose as I don'y know if I'll have room to weld on a fitting yet or not, still waiting on some parts for the whole setup.

Sorry, thought I posted an update on here. Long story short, the car ran great with the 3d printed intake. I made my own harness extension and that worked great too.

I am working on running mafless at the moment. Car runs great but throws a map sensor code on restart so one of my settings is wrong.

If I can figure that out, I will do a printed intake that will work with the filter from the speed tech kit. That is nice because I won’t have to invest in a coolant tank relocation kit. The intake pipe will be much more simple as well since it will only need a connection for the pcv hose.
