@Alturiak , Do you have a link to the filter you are currently using?

Been working on a hot side intake with a couple of members. Going to 3d print it. This is the first attempt which will need changes but it’s good enough to test driveability and verify it works. Hoping to test it out this week.

After testing this version, will probably wait until I move my expansion tank to the drivers side before finalizing the routing of the intake. Really cool. Hoping it works!
Wow sorry I'm so late to the party, it's been a while since I've been on the forums! But the filter I use is CTS part number CTS-AF-250, and is a replacement filter for a few of their different kits. So far it's been rock solid and I've loved the setup so far.

I really like your intake design! And not needing to relocate the coolant tank is a bonus. Do you have any pics of the full setup with the Speedtech filter?

I don’t have any updates unfortunately. I’m working on figuring out how to run without the MAF so I can design a more simple intake pipe and not have to include a connection for the MAF. I have my car running normally, but I’m still getting a few codes due to the MAF being disconnected but I will post update once I figure it out.

Hey houtan, first time poster here, and long time lurker, wanted to know if I could buy an Intake tube from you with the maf sensor like you had on the previous page. Let me know, thank you

Thanks for your post. I haven’t done the work on the intake yet but I’ll be starting it back up soon. Once it’s done I will share with everybody and go from there. I know it works in terms of the car running good, I just need to make sure the carbon reinforced nylon will hold up the same as YouTube says it will.

Quick question for everyone and this seems like the right thread to ask... I am currently deployed (Navy) at the moment so I can't measure the diameter or my Pure turbo inlet. does anyone happen to know it? I ordered a MRP MAF housing that is 3" in diameter, and I am wondering if I use a coupler to my inlet if I need a step down or if it would be 3" to 3". Thank you for any information, it is appreciated!

I have a vrsf inlet at home I could measure, does that work for you?

Yeah, I really would appreciate it if you could do that! I would assume they would be the same if not no big loss its just a coupler. I just like to order a bunch of car parts while I am deployed so when I get home I'm like a kid on Christmas.

Are these the measurements you're looking for?

Thank @wheela again for the help, I just ordered a few more things. My plan is to add the below pictured coupler to my pure inlet on one side then my MRP MAF housing on the other, insert the billet adapter then use the hose I purchased listed below and run it to my PVC on my valve cover. I also ordered a RU-5288 K&N air filter, it seems like it is pretty small profile and might fit my needs if not ill just have to move the radiator tank. Once I get back and start working on it I will post updated pictures. Thanks again OP for starting up this thread, I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I always wondered why any of the manufacturing guys never came out with a solution.

Glad to help! What site are you ordering those parts from?

It’s a tight squeeze with the stock coolant tank on the passenger side. The only filter I have seen that fits in between the headlight and stock expansion tank is the one from speedtech for their n55 kits. He will sell the filter separately but it only comes with a 3.5” opening. I purchased one to experiment with soon hopefully.

Also, You made need some sort of elbow.

Either way, looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Thanks for the info on the filter! The one I ordered seems pretty small (see attached image for diagram) but again I am not home to measure anything. Yeah I have been thinking I might need a coupler with a slight elbow to it. If that is the case I should be able to acquire one locally when the time comes. I am interested to see your process on the project as well! i really like the idea of the 3d printed section, if it ends up working i would be interested to see if any of the manufacturers would be willing to make an aluminum version? Let us know how the Speedtech filter works out when you have a chance!

Finally made some progress this weekend, it’s not quite done yet but this is stage 1 (budget version) of the relocated intake. Things I still want to do, I have a small 4 inch filter on now because I wasn’t sure how much room I have but now after everything is on, I can definitely get a 6 inch base cone tapered filter in there. Also gonna add a 335D snorkel to route some air towards the filter.

So parts I used

-Vibrant silicone t coupler 19691
-Amazon stainless steel 1 inch 90 degree fitting
-Mishimoto 1 inch catch can hose kit
-MRP 3 inch maf housing (shortened 1 inch on each side by machine shop for better fitment)
-N54 coolant reservoir for more space due to shape ( only modification to install was need to shorten the bottom coolant hose to the reservoir by about an inch due to it kinking since the n54 reservoir goes further down. Cut metal clamp, cut hose by about an inch then put back on with worm clamp)
-IN House Performance Maf extension
-K&n air filter

Things I still wanna do to clean it up
- stock cover does still fit but only with current 4 inch filter, with anything bigger it will not fit.
- gonna upgrade to 6 inch filter
-335D snorkel
- get rid of remaining engine cover (mid back)
- install turner bracket for electrical lines on top of the engine bay to tuck them next to fire wall
- Nexys b58 coil conversion in red

Then that should probably sum it up

Nice job!! Do you know what the final length of the MRP was?

Any logs after install? Does everything run normal?

Everything runs normal, logs are clean and no cel. car has much better throttle response coming from the butt dyno. So the housing is normally 6 inches in length from MRP, I had it shortened to 4 inches, 1 inch off each end.

Pretty big update over here. @JPuehl, @Stokes , and myself have been working on making mafless work. Which those two figured out. So then I started doing a short intake in cad and a few revisions later, we have a hot side intake.

The final intake is printed out of carbon fiber reinforced nylon. Took me a while to get right but I got it.

Still haven’t gone on a test drive yet, but will obviously update once I do. Just wanted to share where we are at right now. Pretty excited !
