Ouch. Might want to brace yourself but the custom tools needed for the N5x series engines are pretty pricey. You're going to need the camshaft install tool (pricy $700-800) look at 3:30sec on this vid https://youtu.be/YktIgslaoIQ, front main seal tool (not bad, maybe a hundred bucks), there is also a bedding plate to torque the mains correctly and evenly (extremely pricy), and the main seal injection tool (I have no clue).

All told you'll end up spending well over $1000 (potentially close to $2k) just in one time use N54 tooling to put the engine back together correctly.

I paid like $350 for a tool that does the front and rear crankshaft seals. People have done the rear with wood screws and the old seal. The sealant is like $70 iirc and comes with the plunger and tips to inject it. Cam tool can be rented. No idea on the bed plate tool, but someone made their own bed plate tool as well and their engine went back together and ran. So, not too sure how "hard" it all really is. Biggest thing would be to follow BMW's instructions and order of operations with a close eye on the little details.

If you can rent the tools, do it. Much better in the long run.

Did you measure your bore first? 84mm pistons on a stock sleeve doesn't leave any room to make them round again if needed.

Hopefully he measured each bore and checked for roundness before he ordered the pistons.
JE's can be a loud piston until they warm up.

Hello, sorry for the late reply. Wow lol but its tough to remember all the prices but I'd say around 10k from beginning to end with the Turbo kit and etc

Hey, yes everything was measured prior to ordering the pistons and bearings. The cylinders were honed and re-measured also. I wanted to leave the bore and etc as close to stock as possible

Stock 10.2:1 ..

and yes u saw 11.0:1...
works great. Runs great.. except the damn 2a98 .. damn timing off again..
and no .. I have a new ledge and tephon so is not that. And yes I swap and clean solenoids and sensors..

I will check timing maybe tomorrow. But other then that!! 0 codes and already dis pulls at 23 psi.. NASTY power... can t believe it is a 6870g2... spool maybe better that the 6266 and smaller ones..

Increased displacement, lighter internals, tighter on top, loose on the bottom, stroker, ... it’s a setup..

None of that is going to spool up a 6870 as fast as a 6266 as much as you want it to, it's not. Logs go a long way to prove claims like that. Not my butt spool meter says this car has many much spools, very fast spools time.
