The difference in weight is probably equivalent to bird shit on your windshield. It will make no difference and as for heat soak, I would think the more surface area the better dissipation of heat.

Is the reflecting area in the photo a photography lighting issue, or the ground off aluminum area having a smoother refractive surface than the cast aluminum?

Given he said it took him 8 minutes, I’d say it’s the surface finish. Given they are not currently offering it with the grinding work, I’d don’t see that as being any reason to/not to purchase.

Agree. But $800+ in for the valve cover and powdercoating, I would imagine folks would want to figure out how to get the casting texture on the ground area so it looks like an $800 valve cover. 8 minutes or 15 minutes really is not the issue. Probably some kind of stippling will do it? Maybe someone has ideas on how to do texture the aluminum?

It just needs to all be grit blasted after the sanding is done to even out the texture before any coating.

Good call, blast might work well, with glass beads as opposed to other medias. If one works the whole surface, it may blend the surface well enough that there is no noticeable difference. Fair chance the powder coating place will have the ability to do that.

I moved all the non-directly related M18 VC dialog off this thread. I don't want to get picky on the promo thread, and if people could not be so overt I probably wouldn't bother ... but alas ... . And there was some actual content laced in there, but I'm not untangling it.

Ok so what catch can setups are you guys considering to go with this? I put in my order last weekend. Now shopping around for the catch can setup.
I also don't like the allen bolts that seem to come with this, anyone knows what size is needed so I can source my own?

Did not expect but blue looks really good. It was hard to capture the texture but in real life looks much better. " NOT a Fan of Color"

We are offering Dual Radium Catch Can Setup and Cheap affordable Universal Dual cans strut tower support mount.. We will get some pictures by the weekend.

Look great. Wish there was a solution to cover PR coils/plug recesses so it all looks integrated and protects the ignition components from water like the engine cover normally would.

Any word on the magnesium VC?

Im thinking 10mm flanged hex if it fits.
That works too.i know the valve cover isn't meant to be removed constantly but if removing it couple times and if the Allen key is little off from nut then say by by.then it would be difficult to remove at that point.i think sticking with the e torx or even hex flangesd style would be just fine.

The shaved area just needs more coats to match the texture.

WOW. These valve covers are looking amazing. That blue is shockingly attractive for such an obnoxious color.

I, too, would love for a non-logo valve cover. I understand it isn't being offered, but it would certainly motivate my wallet to open if I could obtain one without M18 on it. I find the non-logo cover to look very OEM+.

Great product release here.
