Can I use the exhaust camshaft of the N53 engine on the N54 or it's impossible?

I know I can use the intake camshaft of the N53 on the N54, even gaining something in the process... but I don't know if I'll be able to use the exhaust one...

Any ideas with that?

And another doubt, the VANOS intake phase variable are different from the N54 and the N53. If I use the intake camshaft of the N53, which phase variable should I use, the N53 or the N54
You can use the N53 exhaust cam.
Use the N54 intake cam vanos gear.

Latest mod is a fresh M2C manual gearbox & twin-disc clutch. Transmission itself is 25mm longer, mostly in the bellhousing, so needed a custom flywheel & had to shorten the shifter 20mm to get it to come out in the same position as stock. Luckily had a 120i transmission crossmember lying around which allowed everything to line up properly. Also had to drill & tap the tailhousing for a reverse light switch, as the newer transmissions use a gear position sensor. Luckily the casting is the exact same one used on the 1M so had a blanked boss in the correct position :)

Weight advantage or just because?

I initially ran a pukka 1M box which grenaded shortly thereafter, was able to source a fresh N55 45BZ to replace it which I ran without issue until coming across this as-new BMW test piece with literally a handful of km on it. The -45BZ is 13kg lighter than the 53BZ in addition to offering crisper shifting and slightly closer ratios. The S55 version is the ultimate version of the 45BZ and comes with a longer bellhousing to allow for the use of the OEM (S55 & S58) twin-disc clutch

this is insane considering the DI is still there. Can't wait to see your video on the fuel setup.
Anyway which kind of fuel were you using during this pull?

Given all the issues with the DI delete I think this will put it to bed. HPFP overdrive without all the reliability and noise issues of the gearsets that others use.

There's some small logic mods that might be needed in the DME to get smooth rail pressure control. Just need to change the scaling values of the fuel control axis to go above 255l/h as it currently maxes out there. Maybe that's something MHD can implement for this.

Great Video! Really happy that you finally started to do videos!

I´d love to see a comparison between a ported N54 and a (ported) N53 head.

My head was fully ported with 29mm exhaust valves and the results are great. I also modified the Header of my HP650s to increase the diameter to 35/36mm.

My assumption is that i am not very far away now from the N53 setup. Would love to see flow data of the N53 heads.

Hi Omar.

You might be sorting out a website at the moment that will deal with all of this, but... any pricing/install info on the overdrive kit (and any rough or known e85 power limits with it), and your crank hub solution? Also, how can we go about ordering HP parts?

Thank you!

Pricing will be set at the end of this week hopefully. I don't know this for a fact so please don't quote me on this, but intuition tells me that 600whp on E85 should be possible provided enough LPFP capacity is present. I was planning on doing an install vid next up, but circumstances have dictated that I shoot a - long overdue I know - HP Turbo info vid tomorrow instead. Furthermore, the second race of the season is coming up this weekend and I'm rushing to get a number of small mods & last-minute tweaks done on the 1er before then. I machined up a few Servotronic "delete" plugs for the 1M/M3 steering racks which will allow for softer steering without any wiring & coding mods, possibly even softer than doing it the OEM method. I never really gave steering effort much thought until grew accustomed to the F22 "Sport" EPS rack which is finger light. Makes life a lot easier when you're loaded up in the middle of a turn & fighting the car - but I digress...

If you want to order anything just email sales at hydra performance dot com & I'll get you sorted out ASAP!

PS - This is the course we'll be racing @ this weekend, hopefully this year's video in the 1er should be a LOT more exciting to watch!:D
