I solder a lot as I build racing drones and always considered soldering a better method but now my mind has been changed.

I use the TE ones that look just like that. They have environmental seals at the end that should also act as minor strain control and then the solder flows in between them to fully fill the space. I really like them for what that's worth.

I use them as well

Charge pipe and port injection is coming tomorrow.

Do they just use a port injection plate like all the regular PI kits? I don't see injector bosses on the manifold. I would've figured they would have been cast into it.

Nope, it uses a fuel rail and has injector slots on the bottom side of the manifold. The rest of the kit showed up yesterday... here are some cell phone pictures of everything. Hoping to get around to installing it next weekend.

Ah I see the injector ports from this angle now. Before I could only see the NPT ports. Looks awesome!

Not a big a deal, but its worth noting the 335D reservoir will not work and I'll have to relocate my power-steering reservoir. Here is my manifold after I did a test fitting

Manifold looks lovely.

Perhaps hence why DOC made there own billet coolant tank to work with this?

Looks like you could possibly thread in a 90 degree fitting if you cut the barb off it might just work

Just booked a dyno appointment for Saturday. Gonna do a few runs beforehand, then install the manifold and get some "after" results. I've gathered pretty much all of the parts I'll need to install it and will share a DIY/parts list after installing it.

In theory your boost should be lower as the intake is less of a restriction and the air is flowing more uni-formally into the head, from my understanding. However, you still have the head as the next restriction so it really might not be much of a change on it's own.

It would be interesting to see how much the head could be ported and then portmatched to the DR IM. Obviously would need a custom gasket.

Be neat to see your results. I'm hoping for good gains for you and for everyone else who preordered this aftermarket intake manifold with zero proven gains. I don't think anyone can say the gains of the DR custom sheet metal tapered log with trumpets spaced off the floor will be the same as this cast manifold. At least not yet. Not exactly apples to apples.

Well, I installed my Doc Race intake manifold on Saturday!

I put together a very detailed write-up with a required parts list, DIY installation and dyno data. Check it out now:

For a brief overview, here are some photos and a video.

Here's a graph I overlaid with the stock manifold vs Doc Race manifold. It favors the stock manifold for ambient temperature and spool RPM, but gives you an idea of the power it picks up in the midrange. This is good power under the curve. +49whp and +47wtq at 5500 RPMs. I will eventually go back to the dyno and do a 29psi pull in 70*F weather starting at 2000 RPMs with the Doc Race intake manifold for a more apples-to-apples comparison.

Looks like you guys need some extended Tmap Harnesses... if only there was someone who could make them :)

Doc Race missed an opportunity to make money on a cheap harness. I guarantee people would pay $75+ for a plug and play solution. Also makes shops more interested in installing a manifold that does not require extra work.

It would be nice if they had a relief to fit a zip tie for the underside of the manifold for the wires. But I guess that is not a big deal.

Hey guys ... some dude started a thread where one can post info on what works and tells us why one recommends it .... do I need to provide more hints?
