I keep timing 1 and 2 in sync from about 100 load and up. I never figured out when the DME would follow a path to timing 2, but thought might as well. I took a low timing, rich afr, spool approach. It didn't seem to help though so I'll probably go back to factory spooling and mid range load timing.

I actually used to do that as well. Then when I tried with only timing one changed and it worked, I only changed that table. I was hoping timing2 would match the timing in the log, but the targets in my timing 2 are lower.
My iats are sort of high from what they have been in the past, but I don’t think 122ish degrees would trigger anything to reduce timing.

Check your timing cor. factor 1 and 2 tables. Axis are intake and engine Temps. 230F and 130F air would have a factory correction of 0.150. I haven't messed with the table so I'm not sure if that 0.15 would be removed or if 15% is removed.

Thanks. Very interesting. So looking at the top of 4th, engine temp is 94c and iat is 44c so that would be zero corrections?

1st time lurking on the N55 side and wondering why this engine doesn't have an Advanced Tuning Section like the N54.

actual question: What tables are adjusted for the upgraded fuel pumps on the F series? are they in the public repository?

Hi guys

Got a F20 M135i with PS2 that I'm self-tuning.

For the life of me I cannot get Load request above 200% even though I'm asking for 220.

Got Load ceiling at 220.
Modeled torque limit set to 750.
Torque request set to 750.
Stock L2T tables.
Boost limit multiplier to 4.00 across the board.

Am i missing something?

Did you ramp up your compressor table to match the PS2 characteristics? Otherwise you are trying to drive the PS2 as a stock turbo.

And how would one find or figure out what the "PS2 characteristics" are? I have a PS2 on my E82 N55, and while I'm using a JB4, I'm trying to tune the BEF in the areas the JB4 can't, like timing and AFRs. I'd love to be able to tune the BEF to the PS2 rather than the OEM turbo with a piggyback controlling it.

On E-series go Commanded Waste gate approach and get ready to spend a crap ton of time and money (tires, brakes, fuel, etc.). I started down full PID and then gave up and paid SBrach to provide me a tune. I still play around and learn, but have a fall back at the end of the day when I'm mentally exhausted from trying to understand what the DME is doing.

When I get time, I plan on branching the 980GB XDF and adding in all the new tables I ported over from other XDFs. It's sad how the XDF stopped getting updated about 3 years ago. We'll see if they accept my additions. If not, then I'll publish somewhere else.

Here is my latest attempt... Oh yeah, post shift boost spikes are the hardest part of self tuning. Mine just sort of works, but I couldn't tell you specifically how.

Yep I did.

Isn't the compressor table more to do with actual boost vs load/boost target?

Since my PS2 upgrade earlier this year and working from home because of covid19, the only miles I've put on my car have been hard miles logging data, lol. I have a few 100 logs since mid-March and I'm still trying to get my BEF to work with the JB4, seems a futile effect tho since the JB4 is a piggyback. I might take your route and see if I can pay SBrach to help with the BEF. So far no one wants to attempt to help with a BEF for a PS2 with the JB4, lol.

Why do you want to keep the JB4 if you pay for a tune?

Not pay for a full on tune, just help with the JB4 "BEF". I'm not ready to drop $450 on a stand alone tune (Wedge's price for a PS2 tune), plus the logging module for MHD $119+tax, plus the wireless adapter for the MHD $69+tax+shipping. $640 + tax + shipping. Although now that I think about it I won't be spending my race tire budget this year (thanks covid19!!! :-( ) so maybe I should reallocate those funds. hmm, I'll talk to my wife about that. Forgot to add in a new HPFP since I have some misfires >=6k rpm at 18.5 psi, which according to the JB4 log is the HPFP lagging.

I hear you. I know they have promotions from time to time so you may want to reach out and see if they have one coming up. I think sbrach had a promotion last month and it was something like 20% off. A lot of this stuff gets posted on Facebook though, which I do not use much.

Thanks and that's not a bad idea. My combo of parts can't be so unique that a tuner couldn't at least start with a known "good" tune (and by that I don't mean for a tuner to send me something that someone already paid full price for, just that with my simple setup, the research of creating a "base" tune has probably been done, several times, since I'm late in the game at getting a real tune on this platform).

The JB4 handles the boost control logic. The BEF is for things like reporting proper load, more realistic AFR and Timing. I ran with the JB4 and my own BEF (because the canned ones were scary and weird). I had no issues. I disliked it, but it worked.

Wow, I see you are using the JB4 for logging. I hated the logging of the JB4. I loved the live monitor screen though.

I can send you a PM of someone that might be able to help for BEF. I only do this for the misery and pain of it. I meant the learning experience. lol

Thanks, for the PM. I too worked on the AFRs and timing a bit on the BEF and the AFRs are much better. I'll reach out as you recommended.

Upload a log to spoolstreet and link it here. Maybe we can help if you are doing your own BEF.
