Ah ok, no worries, i'll have a look and see what i can do.

right, im hoping to start this soon (weekend will be a start i think). dont expect quick results on this mate, its only a hobby so time is limited.

Im well advanced on the E/F series emulator for power on and flashing modules, I'll just need to work on activating portions of the display when using things like the gear select and FDS.

for the gear select they do, but not for the FDS functions and thats what Im more interested in.

The gear select will be handy so I will be looking at that too.

I will keep the forum posted though, if anyone as a pukka f series M car and would like to take a can bus log when selecting the FDS control and M buttons (mfsw too), as well as the gear selector then I would really appreciate that.
Hey man any luck on the shifter coding ?

Not yet mate, im still getting the parts together and making the looms up, Ive had a quick look and if i can get a real M car canbus trace, I think i can do something.

I will be able to spend a bit more time on this from Aug, so hopefully should see results after this.

Great let’s the this thread back to life, I can test out anything if you need. Currently just muted the error form coming but still don’t have access to putting the car in M/S mode.

So with the bit of coding stated earlier (using Bimmercode) and M2 F87 knob, it’s a plug and play?

I installed a non comp m2 selector as advised in the tread , I just can’t get it to shift manually from the selector.

Did you do that one line of coding in KOMBI? So it does bolt into place and connector fits ?

So I stripped the trim , removed the old shifter and installed the new one , tested to make sure everything worked and lastly I did the 1 line of coding with bimmercode

After test driving I couldn’t get the car to manually shift with the selector so I pulled the fault codes with xHP and this is the fault code I have.

OxCF3141
Interface GWS: (operation GWS P 1 2 /
operation GWS P 2 2 / operation GWS
Park-Switch, 0x197) Signal invalid
Interface GWS: (operation GWS P 1 2 / operation GWS
P 2 2 / operation GWS Park-Switch, 0x197) Signal invalid

I’m looking for someone to be able to code out the error or to try find a bypass that fault

Personally it’s not a deal breaker for me , but I’m going search for someone who can code out the error or find a way to bypass it while I use the shifter
Please keep the thread updated if you do. I’m still trying to get used to turning the car off in “D” and letting the car shift to “P” lol. Feels little off when coming to a spot, stop, e brake and turn off

Yeah it does throw you off abit.Bimmer ecu did get back to me, they are willing to try code out the issue to fix the gws error but they need the car to be brought to the shop. Unfortunately I’m not even in the USA so if someone is local to San Diego they could go through and give it a shot

Any update on getting the shifter to say in manual mode ?
Would having the car go into M mode directly rather than sport auto when pushing to the left resolve this ?
I see that XHP offers first in M however not possible for my car does anyone know if this works ?

Nope nothing as of now I’m thinking maybe something with trying and wire the shifter to enable manual mode thought a switch. Something like they do in this video but just need to know what wires are linked to the manual selection.
