Hi all:

Long story short and As I was warn, I have to accept that as off this writing clutches from Dodson, which were paid on May 4 has not arrive. Customer service from Dodson is poor (just to be polite)

This been said and if we have a SSP salesman in here, please reach me via private message to see how can you help me in obtaining your clutch pack and what price you can give me.

Thanks

JMVELA we wish you all the best

Regards,

Graeme

Hi all,

Our desire is that every customer would receive not only a quality product but also excellent service. We have over 200 dealers worldwide that not only sell and install our products but also provide local customer service and are the first point of contact.

Our distribution looks like this:

Manufacturer ⟹ Dealer ⟹ Customer

Our primary responsibility is to design and manufacture quality products and to provide technical support to our dealers. We strongly encourage that if a customer has any queries with an order or has issues with a product they have purchased to please resolve it directly with the dealer they bought it from. If necessary, the local dealer will contact us for further support.

Having said that, we understand that sometimes you need to go straight to the top. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with a phone call or an email. If it is regarding a purchase, our first step will be to ask you which one of our dealers you bought it from and to provide a proof of purchase. This is our standard procedure and allows us to give you a prompt and helpful response.

One of our learnings is that there are some misunderstandings in the marketplace regarding our clutch core exchange program. We are working to amend this so please stand by for a post to clarify this program soon. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about our products, the sales process or after sales support. You will find our contact details on our website. https://www.dodsonmotorsport.com/

Regards,

Graeme

Hi all,

As mentioned above some clarification is required around our clutch core exchange program so please allow me to unpack what it’s about. For certain models of clutches we prefer to supply the clutch fully assembled inside a clutch core. This way we can guarantee that the clutch is set up correctly and it makes installation a breeze.

Dodson Motorsport own a number of OE clutch cores which we keep in circulation. When we send out the assembled clutch in a core the customer sends us back their used clutch core to be refurbished and used again. In order to ensure the customer does return their core we require a credit card to be authorised for payment. In the event that a core is not returned within 30 days the card will be charged for the core.

Please note customers DO NOT have to pay for the OE clutch cores at the time of purchase. I hope that this brings clarity as there had been some confusion regarding this matter.

For more information please see our website.

Hey guys just a quick update. I have just over 100 miles on my new Dodson Sportsmans Plus 10 plate clutch upgrade. It is performing great so far and is much improved over previous versions. I was able to successfully learn in the clutch kit on the first try and shift feel stock like but more aggressive bite under load. Install was very straightforward, straight swap out of the stock clutch assembly.

Will update with more info once I have 250 miles and some launches at the track under my belt.

How long you waited for your clutches?? I paid mines on May 4 and as of this writing we still yet to recived it. Poor, poor service from Dodson. And worst of all, they defend themselves instead of resolve the situation.

That is strange. I was sent a tracking DHL tracking number and shockingly received it two days later. Could it be a customs issue?

So here is a test by MaxxECU in the DCT swapped mustang. The transmission is sourced from the E9X M3 which has the lower, 15.5 bar line pressure limit. The GTS software is reported to have a 'slightly' higher line pressure but still much less than that in the N54 sourced DCTs.

These charts compare the SSP Spec R (16 Plate) vs Dodson Sportsman Plus (20 Plate)

Dodson Sportsman Plus:
30396

SSP Spec R:
30397

Dodson Sportsam Plus: 1251nm = 923 ft-lb
SSP Spec-R: 930nm = 686 ft-lb

The next comparison of interest would be testing the Spec X which is an 18 plate pack and also testing at increased line pressure.

When they modified the line pressure up to 17.2 bar, torque handling went from 1230 nm(1251 in a later test?) to 1400nm which is 1032 ft-lb without slipping. This must mean the 335is/Z4/135i should be able to hold these higher torque levels since the line pressures go up to 17-18 bar on the factory calibration.

Hi All, I thought this would be a good opportunity to give some educational and instructional information on the Dodson Motorsport Plus Clutches to suit BMW DCT. There are a few things that need to be covered off, including the installation, clearances, learn procedure and also tunes, particularly with turbo and air intake upgrades to ensure you get the best result. We have two test vehicles that we have been monitoring, a stock standard 2013 m5 which we use to ensure smooth adaption and standard driving manners, also a 2015 M3 F80 1000 WHP Heat Exchanger, Intercooler, Charge Pipes, Intakes, S55 Turbo System, Titanium Option, Torque 798 Ft/lb. E85. Port Injection. Engine Custom Flash ECU, Transmission flash upgraded. Below is a render of the clutch. I thought we could start from top to bottom and go through the parts, and specifications etc. Then move on to installation and upgrades. Any questions during this, please let me know and also looking forward to hearing some feedback. All the best. Steve Parker General Manager Dodson Motorsport.

Hi, I will get team to look into this for you because it looks like you had some issues. We just wouldn't expect that these days as we redesigned to ensure a simple learn procedure, even back then we still had plenty working but a few didn't and it was predominantly around the learn. I think the best we can do in this scenario is to send you one of our new BMW plus clutches and give us some feedback, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Maybe we could send you to one of our closer dealers. Can you tell us about your vehicle, modifications, turbos etc?
Hi BMWJunkie, Thanks for the question. We get and expect first attempt learns on the DMS PLUS clutch with N54, F10, F80 as per tests and installs we have monitored and done in-house with our test cars. This is part of the process before we release a product then we generate the install and learn instructions to suit which we give to our dealers. These days we generally send full core exchange pre-built clutches to ensure they are plug and play essentially as there are some variables in assembly.
Why do you ask, have you had some issues if so we can look at this for you? We have a 335i, M5 and M3 test car if that assists you our engineers can review?

I had the kit installed and it failed on me I had a well known shop install it and within 50 miles in after adaption process 2nd gear started to act up and drive harsh then I went back to the shop to have it adapted again still did not want to adjust I had the shop pull the clutch out the car and open it up and the disk was missing a friction part which is very odd when I only drove 100 miles on comfort mode I would like Dodson to send a replacement sportsman plus unit and take the current 1 I have

Dodson was a nightmare, incorrectly made parts, little testing done on their end. Support was a joke. SSP was seemless.
I have a set of clutches with 200 miles that does out on me I would like for Dodson to send me a kit and take the defective set back

Installed Dodson clutch to my N54 3 years ago, and have been having issue with a clutch adaption since installed. Had tried to re-learn 10 more times but it did not help. And interesting fact is that Dodson keep silence and have not replied.... The worst support I have even seen.
Definitely would not recommend them at least for BMW.
