So, I bought the AVIN, then I bought another android screen, it had 2GB of ram instead of 1GB, but its giving me static sound when the music is off, get's stuck if you turn the key off during boot up and its still slightly sluggish. I'm hoping they fixed the static issue, but now they have an Android 10 4GB model with LTE and an octa core big.LITTLE Snapdragon 625 for $360 shipped:

CPU: MSM8953 aka Snapdragon 625: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-625-mobile-platform

GPU Name: Qualcomm® Adreno™ 506 GPU
CPU Clock Speed: Up to 2.0 GHz
CPU Cores: 8x ARM Cortex A53, Octa-core CPU
CPU Architecture: 64-bit
Wi-Fi Standards: 802.11ac Wave 2, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11n

Phones with this processor (2016 era): https://www.kimovil.com/en/list-smartphones-by-processor/qualcomm-snapdragon-625-msm8953

From the history of Made In Chyna stuff that sounds too good to be true. I won't be buying another Chinese brand computer any time in the near future.

If there be any fully functional android for e9x.... let me know.

I'm still confused by what you are saying/insinuating. I have the latest AVIN with LTE and the octacore. I have not had an issue with it. Very responsive, no static, it works great.

The only issue I've had is when I connect my phone using Android auto, it only plays audio for 2 seconds and then stops. It's my phone though, as my friend's Samsung doesn't do that on it.

What is it you don't like about it?

Do you have a link?

AVIN Android 10

You have to make sure you select the Android 10 one. I'm sure it's the same as the one you linked, but I thought Avin's support and instructions were worth the extra money.

Interesting to note, I swear that on the original model of these people had to plug in the aux cable from the center console to the unit. I ordered the aux cable and splitter so I could do that, but I couldn't find a 3.5mm connection from the stock head unit that I had to mess with and I didn't connect mine from the aux input and everything works when set to aux.

The other issue I have (not the unit, but and android issue) is that I cannot use android auto in split screen as I had planned. Since my phone is dumb and won't play audio when connected via android auto, I connect my phone to the head unit via bluetooth and run android auto solo on my phone. Then I run MHD on the in-dash unit and log from it. It would have been phenomenal if MHD hadn't switched to the terrible gauges on 2.0 (that's a different issue too) but it still works for auto logging and keeping info visible.

I have my phone resting in the ashtray and can easily switch songs, navigate, etc.

I am debating on if it makes sense to add the LTE card to the unit. The main reason I got this is so I can have hands free speech to text which I can do now with the phone using android auto and it comes over the sound system via bluetooth, phone calls work fine as well, except the phone audio comes thru a small speaker that connects separately if I recall correctly. I only drive my car for pleasure so it's been a while since I made or placed a call in it.

I know there have been lots of complaints of static and sound quality but no matter what I play on mine, direct audio or video, bluetooth, it all sounds great to me. No static at all. I know there's a bunch of videos on youtube but I'll try and grab a few of my setup and how it works for me.

I have yet to connect the front parking camera or trunk mounted rearview camera, so I can't comment on their quality or efficiency. I also have a dash cam and am debating on if it makes sense to input that into it as well.

So they want $450 shipped for the north American version. It might be worth the money for the support plus the access to special firmware the Chinese sellers don't give. Plus, there's also the fitment if the E8x version. Last one I got needed some extra modificaton.

After adding in some other options it might be a bit more, but you'd have to buy them anyways with the Chinese ones too so that's a wash. I was surprised they don't use the add-ons as margin makers, most of the stuff is priced within a dollar or two of Amazon buying it separately.

Be aware - even tho they say "in-stock in North America" that may not be true. It said that when I ordered mine and they said "sorry they are out of stock, will be a week." I used that to negotiate a free trunk handle camera :D. Then it shipped 2 days later right from China and got it in 5 days.

Hey everyone. I’m new. And actually ordered and installed my unit before finding this thread. Over all I am satisfied with the unit (Android 10 w/ 4gb ram) sound quality is comparable to stock but I plan on changing out my factory radio to an aftermarket one because I am an audiophile and weighing my options there isn’t really much that I would lose from removing the factory system (98-100% of the items from the factory CCC can be accessed/provided by the gauge cluster).

I am experiencing an issue with the reverse camera (ordered the wireless one with the unit) and I can not get it to work. I originally wired the camera to the reverse light and the receiver basically wired to my cigarette lighter and initially it worked. But the car ignition was not on. When I started the car it gave me “no signal”
I thought it was because maybe not enough power was coming from the reverse light so I connected straight to the battery. And yet the same thing. Rechecked my interior connections and I did not have the “camera DET” wire connected. So connected that and yet still “no signal”
Both camera “transmitter” and “receiver” are receiving power (lights are on) so I don’t know what the issue is.
I tried the different camera options. When set to aftermarket (on this setting when I initially did get a signal) it shows parking lines and “no signal”
OEM goes to factory CCC screen
360 camera does nothing.
the instructions say I should use 360 camera (my car is manual transmission)
Just sent a service message to AVIN so hopefully I receive a solution/response. And if so I will post an update.

Other than that I have no issues with the Avin unit whatsoever. It functions really well, Install was relatively simple (except there is absolutely no space to tuck the wire harness (not Avin fault) ) Audio quality is definitely acceptable, and unit connectivity is really good. As expressed earlier audio (Bluetooth) does stop if you access another screen (oem ccc screen, HD video screen) but I just see it as an acceptable quirk.

Please note that I did not order the Android Auto or Apple car play adapter (because I plan on changing/upgrading my actual head unit) so I can not speak towards that functionality.

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum but read through this thread and hope somebody could help me out. So far I've not been having the best experience with Avin and my unit. I have to say though that the screen clarity, and the ability to run almost whatever app i want (jb4 included) can outweigh a lot of problems the unit has that I can look past.

However one problem I cannot really get past right now is audio. When I first installed a 7.1 android 8.8" to replace my CIC idrive (with only HiFi audio running bavsound speakers and bimmertech dsp amp). I followed all their install instructions and found that I was getting a pretty loud static coming through on only the factory bluetooth input and aux input. So essentially if I stream music, or try to listen to anything on the android side it has tons of static coming through. I can still listen to the music or video or whatever I'm playing, but will listen to static in the background that will get louder if I turn the volume up. I can deal with audio quality loss but this is something different. It even makes the static noise with the aux cable unplugged from the input.

The part where it gets weird is that factory radio, and music playing through the car's hard drive comes through crystal clear. I've worked with Avin on it and they said it may be a defective unit so I ordered an 8.1 Oreo unit- the latest and greatest the have. I run through the install again, and the exact same problem is persisting. Hearing so many people enjoying their units with little or no audio issues makes me think I keep getting units that are bad but I'm getting tired of doing this install. If I didn't have this static I'd be enjoying the unit so much and would recommend it to everyone.

One thing to note though is I saw in Toddyus' post his unit had a ground cable, which mine definitely did not come with. Is it possible mine just needs a ground connection? Has anyone else run into this issue? I've already been to 2 audio shops locally and both have pointed to the android unit as the issue. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've also tested a ground loop isolator and it did nothing to improve the issue.
Just wanted to follow up on this and report it as resolved in case it can help someone in the same situation I had. I eventually went to pull the AVIN out and go back to stock, and as I was doing that I noticed that the MOST connection on my CIC looked as if it was pushed in where it shouldn't be (meaning nothing was plugging into it). I managed to fish it back out and properly in place, thankfully. Then I looked at the AVIN connection and realized that there was just enough slop in the connection where you add the MOST cable, that it wasn't properly lining up when you go to install the huge square connector, and when you use that lever arm to lock it in place you end up just pushing the MOST connection on the CIC side into it's cavity and you have no connection. I ended up being really careful and getting those plugged in correctly, and everything works again! Can't believe I went this long without BT, USB, and AUX!

TL,DR: my MOST connection on CIC was bad, so anyone with my symptoms be sure to check that out.
