I had to install a 3mm spacer for clearance up front after the BC coilover install as it was hitting the shock body slightly on hard turns. I put a 3mm spacer on all 4 corners. Here is how it looks. No clearance issue and the car feels PLANTED!
I just got a set installed. They grip as well as any other 200tw tire so they are worth it as a budget tire option. They have a better operating temp range then my old Hankook RS3's did. They get up to operating temperature quicker in lower temps whereas the RS3 were pretty useless in less than 70f and couldn't get heat into them at all... The RS-RR definitely improved acceleration grip over the RS3.
I am not sold the RS-RR is a good road-course tire yet though. Lateral g's appear to have fallen off a bit vs the RS3. Despite appearing to be very "wide" running tire, the actual tread is fairly narrow in comparison to the tires total width. The shoulder of the tire doesn't appear to be as road-course friendly as some of the more expensive tires that have a more square shoulder that can be used all the way to the edge...
Thanks for the review! I am mostly looking for the improved straight line acceleration so these seem like they may be a very good option. Any wet weather feedback? Obviously wouldn't expect to drive these hard in the rain, but would potentially be installing these on my daily driver, and would need to get from point A to B safely.
Where did you find this info? Offsets aren't what's going to change the weight much...
I was told 21lbs for 17x9.5. That's pretty heavy. Unfortunately, there just aren't that many good wheel options with high enough offsets for the rear of our cars.
Rain hasn't seemed to present any more of a problem than I'd expect for a tire like this. It's not going to be like an all season... they are new right now so they are fine, but as tread depth decreases I'd expect to have to keep it a but slower in the rain.
I did an hpde event yesterday. I can confirm that these tires match their price for performance on track. Not the best but they work and they are budget friendly. Acceleration grip is their strong point. Id probably run something else next time I need tires like re-71

Everyone I've talked to who ran r888's wasn't impressed with them and recommended toyo RR's
If you want a more daily driver friendly tire of stick with 100-200tw rated tires but skip the federal rs-rr and get toyo r1r's, direzza star specs, or the most highly rated the group the re-71r...
You'd be surprised what a proper alignment and a corner balance will do for traction lol
R888's have worked really well for me @650 WHP. They replaced Michelin PSS which were worthless over 500 WHP.
I looked on their website lol. Someone from fs told you the rears were going to be 21lbs? Damn I'd be interested to know which is true then

Looks like offset does make a pretty big difference in weight! 17x9.5 doesn't look like it would be too bad in an ET62.
I'm running 275/35/18 Nitto NT01s with Apex EC-7 18x9.5 et 58 with stock suspension and no rubbing. They're hooking up great on the street with my MMPs at 30 psi.
