What I was asking was, if you had heard or seen anything for the N54 w\ 6hp28 revving high? It was just a general question not a "Have you though about this" type deal. I am looking forward to seeing what this brings to the table :)

The N54 only comes with the 6HP21, so there wouldn't be any data on the 6hp28 with the N54. There is the diesel which comes equipped with the 6HP28, and on that transmission, I'm not sure that they rev them out. Diesels don't tend to like to be revved out.

Reliability is not straightforward regarding transmission tunes. If you're running a lot of boost and the transmission starts to slip while engaged, which probably can be cured by a tune the opposite happens. A tune increases reliabilty, rather then decreasing it.

In general it's not always "tuning" in terms of going more aggressive. A lot of things can be tweaked to how the driver prefers them to be, but have nothing to do with reliability. Think about shift points. Some want shifts as early as possible, others want the opposite. Nothing good or bad about that, it's just personal liking. Or TCC slip. The stock calibration lets the transmission slip a lot with modulated TCC pressure. Personally i hate slip, so I configured the TCC to stay closed as long as possible. Less slip equals less wear in that case. On the other side, if someone wants the fastest shifts possible and likes torque punches on each shift (like a lot of the DCT transmissions do it in Sport Mode) it will of course wear out the clutch packs in the long run. All I can say is, that no OTS map we will be delivering will test the limits. We will do our best, to deliver safe and reliable tunes for everyday use.

I have lot's of BMW files and various Alpina calibrations here and investigated them thouroughly. Additionally my own car will have a few 1000 miles with the tune on it, when we will release in February. And of course, my car is the main development bitch, which has probably 100+ full throttle launches on it right now. :)
I didn't say a trans tune decreases realiabilty, I was just indicating we are all pushing beyond factory limiters on all
Fronts,... And, making a general statement about pushing more than factory numbers thru factory equipment... I'm sure there are some great custom tailored AT tunes out there that preserve trannys... As the post i responded to was a response to pushing shift points to 8k...

There's a reason we have miles and not hours on our ODO... Just sayin... This is a wonderful thing

The tuner "blaming TCU flashes"
Was just a "pass the blame game" not an actual TCU issue, I don't think... But they will take it to the grave that it was, and not "their" tune

Hi guys,

just wanted to share a nice development moment with you. In this very minute the first flash from an old Samsung Galaxy S2 succeeded. :)

Well the fact that they are actually flashing the cal and not just reading it at this point, is a good sign.

If you mean build 06 with "early", then the answer is very likely no. BMW has mixed transmissions TCUs wildly a certain period, but for the N54 it's very likely that the swapped in the new units at build date 03/2007.
I have a build date 03/07 and was unable to do the B3 flash so I guess I'm out of luck again.
Guess I need a valve body from a newer 6hp

At least you can do the valvebody swap. You've got options just not as convenient :(

Few things, from some research ive done, there is not much diffrence from the new 8speed at that shifts way faster then ours other then the software which uses some sort of rev limiter to shift gears faster without adding stress on the tranny, and an upgraded trqverter with a lower lockout point, i was wondering if you could define new tables that could cut power useing the ecu rev limiter appon shift events, i am assuming the tcu gets shift events, also if i where to get the level 10 valv body with this software would it be enough to increese shift times without introducing slip? anyways just some ideas. Really looking forward to this thanks for putting in the work!

The "lv10l VB is nothing else that oem with sonnax ZIP kit. Changing plastic valves for metal one and a full set of orings.
I could do that job with parts for 50% the price LV10 does. And Still make money.
I know bcz I opened Donnies (jb4 mobile guy) and found what the problem was with his tranny (the rebuilder the VB wrong) and fully rebuilded plus a clutch kit simular to PD kit.

Ya i understand what they do is not so special, but the end result is higher pressure mechanically , what i ment was is there a limit on how much pressure this software can put and if so would upgradeing hardware to force higher pressure allow the software to increase the shift speed without allowing slip

Pretty sure it was the same...There is just a transfer case in the front for the front wheels?
