The whole exercise was to get rid of 90% of the rasp all m3's have, have a low rpm rumble and get rid of the horrible noise these engines make on lift off.

I like the v8 sound but not the cabin resonance.

I got another Idea to make this sound car even sweeter which should allow me to run the akrapovic rear section but I got my eye set on a new titanium exhaust from agency power, I got to finish modding the mid section and everything has to be interchangeable between factory/aftermarket sections so one can play and get the exhaust note just right.

So I tried something different today and started playing with the akra exhaust and found that with the new front section it's actually quieter than before and way louder with open whilst the stock is somewhere in the middle.

I'll do a full video when I get to the track but for now only a couple of quick bursts up to the speed limit.

I also converted the akra exhaust valve to be electronic operated as these engines are already low on vacuum so I didn't want to take that away what is lacking.

Please leave some comments and if you want to see things added or just ask questions about the build.

I'm more than happy to answer them.

I actually heavily researched it and it would have cost me less to do a v10 s85 swap than the s65 v8 supercharged swap.

The are a number of reasons behind not going that way.

The s65 is lighter than s85 and n54 when it's completed.

It's a performance motor but the s65 is a lot cheaper to run.

Lot more room for airflow with the s65.

A lot of aftermarket support for it in terms of parts and bling.

Put a supercharger on and you will destroy the s85 in power and handling.

there is no room for a supercharged s85 in a 1 series, so you would be stuck with Na.

It will ruin the handling of the car, unlike the s65 which is a vast improvement over the n54.

The s85 will make an awesome straight line and drift machine.

I was only having fun last night but I could really feel how much better the s65 combo handles.

This all based on my observations and research but If one wanted to do it hell why not, you only live once and it's only money.

All very valid reasons. I have no reasons to doubt you the craftmanship with this whole swap is unreal. I've been a lurker in these forums for a long minute and from everything I can tell you do some amazing work while helping tons of people out. My love for the S85 comes from the E60 M5 growing up in the back of a E60 5 series made the M5 a dream car in a way. Plus a Stroker S85 with a supercharger to top it, is one of the best sounding engines in my mind. Sorry for going slightly of topic.

Dude my ultimate wet dream would be a twin turbo s85 in a 1m, the v10 is just aural sex to the ears.

I'm looking for the right e60 m5 to add to the collection but nothing meets my standards.

They are crazy thirsty but.

HAHA I couldn't agree less. The sound makes up for any and every issue that comes along with those engines. Just might get rid of my e60 535i for a M5 this year. Can't decide weather to buy a manual or a SMG and swap it out for a DCT.
