I haven't got the details yet on the blower.

New Lithiumax 65ah 900ca battery arrived today for the extra load from the m3 fan.

Like the n54 uses the electric water pump to cool the motor the m3 electronics use the fan and it stays on for a good while
on a really hot day even when the car is switched off and locked.

So we decided to upgrade for now until the new 100ah lithiumax battery comes out in Feb/Mar 2021 for all the extra stuff I want to run eventually.

Got to love uneducated journalism and the diarrhoea they write, they say the v8 weights 70kg more and
destroys the handling of the 1 series lol.

The v8 complete engine weights less then the n54 once all the bolt on are on, according to the weighbridge
my car with all the stock seats, brakes and a full tank of fuel weighs 31kg less than the n54 with the stock agm battery.

We had to revert everything back to stock for engineering to legally register the car otherwise it would have been even less.

Later on we will be engineering all the rest of our aftermarket parts.

The car looks great Marty!

On the weight front, unless you weighed the motors alone, you could be wrong and still have a lighter car overall. The most important thing is that you enjoy the car, but if balance is super important to you, corner weight it and see what the front/rear, left/right distribution is and then just adjust your spring preload as needed to balance it out if needed.

I weighed the car before and after at the track on the weigh bridge and overall the car was lighter by around 20 kg in stock form.

Once I put back the titanium exhaust, Recaro seats I'll loose another 50 to 60kg or 120lbs.

Once the Supercharger goes on that is when it will put the weight out of balance and will need to look at doing something to save weight of the front end and corner balancing the car, overall the car handles much better than when fitted with the n54 in stock form.

Need to look at better cooling, looking at a PWR radiator and custom oil cooler as the factory unit is less than ideal as the n54 oil cooler becomes a DCT cooler the the engine oil cooler is a just a terrible design and sits in front of the radiator.

One thing the oil warms up very quickly compared to the n54 so you can enjoy it much earlier.

Also need to make some custom air channelling as the oem stuff just doesn't work.

Got to say this is the way the 1m should have come from the factory or at least as an option.

Love the n54 but the s65 is just so much nicer to drive especially when mated to a GTS tuned DCT makes the experience heavenly, I just cant stop driving it and listening to that hypo V8.

Will be doing the n54 into a 135i with a DCT in the near future, my n54 adventures aren't over yet and I want to explore the the platform even further and I wont be worried about ruining my 1m.

OCD kicked in and I wasn't happy with the exhaust so we are remaking the mid sections
to our standard to pass the strictest emissions and noise tests.

Its so quiet now and you just get to listen to the engine roar.

You can still hear the intoxicating v8 through the tail pipes and all you want to do is mash gears
without raising the attention from the constabulary.

Here is a dyno graph of the stock tune and the base line we are starting with, in comparison the n54 stock makes 180rwk on the same dyno.

Mechanically its finished and ready for emissions, brake and noise testing which will pass with flying colours and make it fully legal.

Next year we will be picking a supercharger, carbon fibre braking system and other things we have not decided on as yet.

We are not aiming to break any records, we just want a tasteful well sorted individual package I can enjoy.

I just felt there was nothing on the market that ticked all the boxes from the current crop of offerings for me.

Like they say built not brought.

This is my spare gear knob I custom modified for dct eventually I'll be doing the full electronics too, keeping it original as possible and legal.

Where is weight missing or not summed correctly?

From what I find the N54 engine ways 195kg, the S65 202kg. I cannot say if it is the complete engine with all accessories on each of the engines but I am pretty positive about that.

Nothing important though. Just my findings.

I used the same scale to weigh my car, don't forget the turbo car you get to remove a lot of extra stuff like the ic, and other turbo associated parts.

The centre of gravity is a lot lower with the v8 as the whole engine sits around 6 inches lower which is a lot in terms of handling.

If you look at real oem the n54 long engine is heavier and that does not include turbos.

Overall my car was 1586kg now its 1560kg in full stock form as I had to take put all the stock stuff back including seats, brakes, battery and exhaust but modified to suit.

Once everything is done I'll put everything back and will shed at least 60 to 70kg making the car lighter than ever, all I can tell you even now the car feels more nimble with better turn in and it feels it has more grip than ever before.

You are correct on actual engine weights but it does not take into consideration all the other bolt on parts which weight a lot more.

In the end judging by the total weight of my car it weighs a few kg less but not the extra 75 kg Autoevolution article is claiming and stating it will wreck the handling of the car lol.

Passed emissions/noise testing with flying colour's, this was the biggest hurdle due to the custom exhaust.

Brake and suspension testing today and she be fully legal, so many hurdles to jump through to do things properly and make it fully insurable.
