Yeah that's what I thought. I pulled the valve cover and checked timing. With the engine at TDC the camshaft timing tools lined up perfectly. I haven't yet taken off the cam hubs cause I'm waiting for the replacement to arrive but I'm hoping that's the issue. Plus when the car isn't in limp mode I get a tapping noise but when it does go into limp mode, seems like the vanos is turned off and there is no longer any tapping noise at 2.5k rpm.
Still wierd that the CBC has twisted to the right and two of the six bolts were finger loose.
