Update:

Went to the local drag strip on friday night, but it was pretty cold and windy out. Temps were killing my traction game even on pretty much brand new federals. Managed a best trap speed of 123mph and several 122mph passes. My friends in FBO(450ish WHP) stock turbo N54 cars where about 5mph slower. C7Z was trapping 125mph

Got my AIC wired in and started playing with that as well as a scaled n20 map. I've got the bin figured out for the most part. I'm using Justin's custom 3-cell values, and with the same WGDC I was seeing about 1.5-2 pounds of boost less than the MHD check box. After some adjustments to my bin I got boost dialed in to target, so perhaps on the old values I'd be seeing 22psi now? Port is also on but the base map needs to work since my fuel trims are maxed out negative up top. Going to run the rest of this tank of E40 out, fill up with E85 and turn it up :)

https://datazap.me/u/cd919/log-1520208143?log=0&data=3-6-22-23-24-30https://datazap.me/u/cd919/log-1520208143?log=0&data=3-6-22-23-24-30

My plan is to ramp boost up progressively to a peak 26psi with 10-11* of timing up top. The idea being to keep torque down in the mid range for the AT, stock motor, and traction.

Any input?

Nice work. I think it’s known that the MHD scaling is off by a psi or so? Seem to remember that.

Looking forward to seeing how you make out tuning for PI. When I throw a PS2 on my car I’ll do PI as well so I’ve been trying to research the tuning as much as possible.

Tuning actually hasn't been bad. They issue I ran into was finding a base map to use in the AIC. There's nothing floating around the forums to use, but luckily someone shared a base map with me and that got me started.

So do you just set your scalar low in the cells where PI is enabled?

Pretty much added PI until my rail pressure was were I wanted it, then adjusted scalar to get it within range or slightly negative is my preference.

Boost seems to follow target pretty good from where I sit. What is boost set point?

Thanks.

"Setpoint – in the case of boost control, this is requested boost pressure that the DME is targeting for a given Load"

When tuning its one of axis to your boost control tables.

Haven't came back in a while because I haven't really messed with my tune once I got it dialed in.

My final tune made 676whp/600wtq
20psi midrange increasing to 26psi by 6k
10 degrees of timing peak(6k)
Full E85

Technically it's not MHD, rather it's the published 3-cell TMAP scaling values everyone has been using. They are very slightly off, but the issue gets compounded due to the scaling, so on the high end you can be 1-2psi off. I worked out the math to correct this based off the tmap equation in the N20 bin and it seemed to fix it. Need to get one more external sensor vs. MHD log user to verify and I will publish it.

What is boost set point?

You can calculate setpoint easily if you have you boost actual and atmospheric pressure. The equation is:
(boost + atm) / atm; so if you are running 23psi at sea level, (23 + 14.7) / 14.7 = 2.564 is boost setpoint.

edit: this was perhaps a bad example as 23psi requires tmap scaling. Max setpoint is around 2.49 - 2.5 due to the 22psi DME limit. When scaling tmap, this limit still remains. To calculate setpoint with a scaled tmap you will use the psi that is being reported to the DME in the above equation.

OP, @chrisdfv time to get MHD FlexFuel on your car and dial that in :)

bringing this back from the dead. did you require any specific BIN changes just to run the boostbox? (not counting the actual boost control tuning) I'm switching from twins to a single (previously running MHD flex fuel and the boost setpoint x rpm boost control, all self tuned), and was originally planning on just doing a standard electronic controller due to some of the early issues I heard people having with the boostbox

Any reason you stopped reving out at 6400rpm? I would think you would of hit 700whp at 7k from the graph.

Yes. BB3 requires 3 different toggles to be tuned correctly and without issues.
The first is a toggle to invert the "wgdc bank 1" signal. So 100" wgdc is actually 0.
The other two are to dis activate the codes for not having the vacuum solenoids plugged in.

Motiv shares these XDF changes with anyone who purchases a BB.

I'm with you on hitting 700whp if it had been rev'd out longer, but thats where the dyno shop chose to let off.

Can anyone offer any insight on how to combat overboost in non WOT situations with boost under wastegate spring? Every time I think I've got it under control I get a half engine light doings some moderate acceleration on the highway. @all4bspinnin ?

Or you can get XDFs out of the most recent map release from BMS same stuff lol

Motiv doesn't have a monopoly on the XDFs

Nice. Didn't realize BMS put out XDFs. It has the toggle to invert the wgdc bank 1 signal?
