Any reason this couldn't worry with the double barrel kit?

I assume he meant "work" instead of worry. If these are upgraded internals, could there be a synergy of running two of these upgraded pumps with the overdrive of the shotgun kit? Chasing down 800 or more on DI?

I'm curious to know more about internals reliability. Would be nice to know what the concerns are with this solution in that regard, and what information might support its reliability, especially given its criticality in the fuel supply system.

It will hopefully be flawless and, if like most other products (wow ... do we want to list the names) have some teething pains.

Hah I was just going to say what product for the N54 get's released that is not a beta?

I'm all in for new products especially fuel related. Be interesting to see where this goes and how it compares to the VTT solution.

No need to wait for real world data...VTT already told us exactly how this compares.

Well I guess we should just close the thread since we have the info we need.

Say...you don't think VTT would cast shade on a competitor's product now do you? I mean that would be unprofessional. I can't see that from VTT ;)

The part I don't get is Rob told us this is much better than whatever Tony is selling.

Considering Rob would never bash VTT and VTT never would talk bad about competitors, we have two completely unbiased reviews with different results. That's impossible!

Now we just need MMP to knock off the gear drive and claim theirs makes more HP and the circle would be complete

Eagerly awaiting for more details. Will it work with active steering?

If this works and it should it will be a great solution for the xdrive cars and others that the shotgun wont fit.

I had no issues with the double barrel and its been running for around 2 years now and the overdriven pump did fail initially but that was the original
pump that came with the car and it failed almost instantly, since replacing it hasn't let me down.

There are a few cars fitted and running the single barrel here without any issues and have seen no failures from the kits I've sold in the last two years since the billet
shotgun has been released.

There's definitely a market for this but longevity is a concern for me as normally planetary gears need a constant source of oil or at least a big supply of it
and they usually don't see the speeds this will be running at, its going to be interesting how they tackled this.

the hpfp itself is internally lubricated with oil based on diagrams from BMW, and it has nothing that's being supplied to it besides fuel. axles and driveshaft cv joints are internally lubricated with moly grease and obviously nothing circulating through them

I'm sure they did something similar. some kind of advanced "fill and forget" lubricant

Theres a big difference between the pump internals and a planetary gear setup, they usually get quite hot and no matter how good the oil or grease is they break down.

The pump is also internally cooled by the fuel that runs through it.

Drive shafts are quite different as they are a bearing and not gears.

Not saying it will fail just interested how they or who ever designed the system tackled the issue, its not as straight forward as you might think.

My guess is; good for 700hp...

On what - an E blend? on full e85? A horsepower number is very broad. It needs to specify ethanol content as well or its pretty useless. You can probably make 700p on the stock DI pump - on race gas though.

Also, if the price floating around is right - it's a no go unless it supports WELL over 700hp. $850 and only 700hp? The only way to get this to succeed is to be priced at $450 OTD. Hell, if VTT would price the double barrel setup at under $600, I doubt you'd see many more PI setups.

Same here, I’ve been running the double shotgun for over a year at 700whp on full e85 and it’s been great. The only issue I’ve had was the bearing on the hpfp shaft falling off which caused a rattling sound when the pump is under load.

ahh the little ball bearing on the side of key way ?

lol that's funny, next time put a small blob of red bearing grease inside between the overdrive and the hpfp.

Hum, it seems i have the same problem, was wondering if it wasnt the pump itself making this noise.
Going to swap the pump soon, i'll know for sure then.

I probably wont jump on board unless these are said to make 700whp+ on e85 with no PI supplement, anything less seems like a lot of development for little gain as mentioned.
