Bradley Tourt is doing an M57 with an 8HP in I believe an E82 at the moment. Waiting ...
8HP is a killer trans. It's being used in road racing, to include there is a BMW Motorsport tuning for it.
I expect when the time comes, rather than rebuild the 6HP, I'll do an 8HP swap in the X5d. After owning an 8HP N57, going to backwards to the 6HP in the X5 was like moving back to victorian times.

In the states what transmission do you get with a E70 X5 35i?
Edit: I kept saying E71 like a dummy, probably because i have a X6. I meant E70 during this whole discussion, sorry about the confusion.

If you have Facebook this is worth the watch. In the Post there’s a E82 with a N57 and a 8HP70 with XHP stage 3 in the 10’s
