It might not be quicker in a 1:1 application scenario (i.e stock N54 w/6hp19t vs stock 630D engine w/ the 28) but just being able to physically handle more torque might make it shift quicker with increased N54 tq vs how the 19t shifts with increased tq.I know it would prob not be quicker but i wonder if it would transfer more power during shift ex being not need as aggressive of a torque reduction
Since we've seen people stretch the 6hp19t up to 700ft/lbs+ I'm really curious what the 28 will handle being thrown at it with a proper tune and maybe even bigger rear end. If it can handle the low end grunt of a twin turbo diesel straight from the factory (let alone whatever the xHP guys have gotten it to do) I think we could really have a good option here. Who knows, it might even be step 1 towards retrofitting an 8hp somehow... though I certainly won't hold my breath yet.
