I really don't get your issue here with PR man. I've been watching and helping here and there with the development even though I'm not really a part of the company. I can tell you that when you first started complaining about these connectors Robert had a whopping 12 test connectors or something, that needed revised. The 180ish he got after that went to sets who had purchased and he had contacted and held since the connectors were coming in, or those who had better luck I guess, just the way that worked out. Anyone who wanted connectors got them as soon as the big shipment came.

As for the boots, this group buy appeared only days after I had seen the renderings of the boots. I don't think they even had an ETA for a test batch at that point. I posted in the Facebook thread that there's no way boots would be ready even at the end of the month. I may not be part of PR, but I've been following these pretty close and I stop by his shop frequently as he's a good friend of mine. Whatever issue you're having I feel like you've been misinformed.

Your biased towards him because you know him that's why you see this as a non issue. He shouldn't have even said anything if they were not for everyone at the time he said it and if they were already taken like you say when he posted that he lied to us.

That's my problem. If your a vender you need to have some professionalism and that means dont deliberately lie to customers on this forum. It's pretty obvious what happened, he sold them to close friends, other vendors/companys/previous customers and some who didn't even buy there kit. He shouldn't have even bothered posting that he had them if he had no intention on actually going by his word and selling them to everyone.

My preference would be to get the newest wires with revised boots, for the N55 version with intake manifold-mounted coils, for an N54 application. I can wait for the revised boots.

So guys here’s the deal

The new boots function just the same as the old ones. They look different and have a different piece at the top.
You are welcome to wait for them OR

You can receive the old style very quickly.

Or alternatively you can get an N55 style kit if you want the coils mounted on the intake side (requires slight trimming to fit engine cover)

Anyone who wants to wait for new boots let me know, several have already said they don’t care and would like to wait, I will add you right here:

1 -
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 -

Anyone who wishes to have an N55 style kit besides the ones who have already made that clear

1 - DCook
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 -

The rest will receive the old style boots.

NEW BOOTS DO NOT EXIST YET, 100% MY FAULT I APOLOGIZE FOR ANYONE UPSET :(
ALL KITS WILL INCLUDE PLUG AND PLAY CONNECTORS!! :)

I didn't see my name listed in the N55 section, but I want an N55 style kit with the newer boots so maybe there's no such section for my less common choice. It seems like five possible categories, N54 kit/old boots, N54 kit/new boots, N55 kit/old boots, N55 kit/new boots, and cancel. That's excluding those who want/insist to get their kit with old boots and have new boots sent to them for free later. I would take that option for my N55 style kit if it is available.

I'll take either kit if they ship this week, does not matter to me. I just thought n55 had new boots and n54 didn't yet due to longer length. Surprise me lol. Idc either way. As long as theres no performance difference new vs old I'm okay.

I thought the same, that the N55 kit "ready now" had the newer boots. I had been thinking that the boots were molded onto the plug wires, but now I believe they just slide over and therefore could be swapped from old style to new style on the same wire. Not sure though.

Anyone going with a standard N54 kit with old boot style, no need to let me know, that’s default right now.

If your doing otherwise just shoot me a message this weekend anytime.

I’m John Gillis Jr. on Facebook as well.

I suppose I'll send a message just in case.

Messaged you back!

Options are:

Either kit with new boots = 2-3 month wait time

Either kit with old boots = this coming week

To be clear, the new boot does not increase performance or functionality, but the old boot was prone to carbon tracing on the spark plugs due to “user install error”.

It definitely seats the wiring connector. I also use it to pull the coil out using a 3/8" extension. Was going to take your word for it if it helped seat the coil onto the plug. :D
Yeah it didn't sound right after I thought about it. So I guess you can fail to seat the OEM coil if you "tried."

In addition to seating the wire connectors properly on the spark plug, what’s the best way to apply dielectric grease to also prevent tracing when seating the PR wire connectors? (I’ve never used dielectric grease with the stock coils and never seemed to have any problems.)

As someone who purchased the kit a while back and has had multiple issues d/t my mechanic's installation error...
I can confirm to use dielectric grease, make sure you feel/hear the boot click when installing, and replace the boot and wires if you do get carbon tracking on the plug.
I will pledge for Roberts professionalism. I contacted him about needing two replacement boots d/t carbon tracking and even though he was very low on spare plug boots/wires left, he made it happen. The parts got here when he said they would. I've had nothing but good experiences with his customer service as I have called a few times to ask questions and he has always answered and spent all the time necessary on the phone to answer my questions. I feel like this is not always the case today with auto parts stores/shops...it can be hard to even get a reply or a live person to talk to.

Thanks for your informative comments. Two questions:
1. Did the two replacement boots solve your problems?
2. Can you suggest how to best apply the dielectric grease?
