Cant figure out what purpose those springs and small rubber stops serve. Perhaps they regulate the flow of fuel injecting towards the high pressure pump or they regulate the volume of fuel returning to the tank? Its hard to see if the springs (can open and close the black rubber stops) because of the tiny spaces they fit in. I just find it weird.

I thought presale already started on the regulator hat? Haven't heard anything about the high voltage fuel pump driver though.

This driver side fuel filter assembly, is this the same as the fuel sender unit that is known to cracked?
I remember mine was replaced by my mechanic when I smelled fuel in the cabin.
So if they replaced the fuel sender unit, does that mean the whole piece including the filter was replaced?

Yes, it can't be replaced without filter.

Yes I probably replace at least one a month on E and F series. I've also seen the passenger side crack around the top as well, although not near as often.
