Alright ... USPS Priority Mail "2-Day" shipping ... arrived today, Chris :tonguewink: ... It's been like this for about 8 months!

And ... everything looks great. First rate, really. I like the work on the fuel rail. I saw the phenolic spacers ... must be the @martymil influence :sunglasses:. Seriously everything looks good - product, packaging, supplies et al.

We're still fighting cold weather (including in the garage). Have an alignment to do (scales are here) on the 3DM TTX suspension, then will work on getting this PFS POD going. Very promising Chris (@PFS)! I'll holler back at you once it is in flight.

Awww, that looks pretty. You have all sorts of extra connectors and clamps, figure you can run your fuel line pretty much any way you want and have some spare clamps/etc. for "someday". :)

I had a talk with my friend.. He says that with this overdrive (any overdrive), when the unit fails, vacuum pump can stop working and so the breaks too. Is it right?

Well... it would have to actually break the vacuum pump when it failed in order to lose vacuum right?

So not just a failed overdrive but a broken vacuum pump.

That said, is it much different than when a car engine dies while driving? Not pleasant, but also not doomed to be a worst case scenario.

When on the track, you have lots of opportunities to roll into the grass or gravel.

Ok the work goes back to you, since it's your friend that seems to have this opinion: please explain how the "overdrive unit fails." What's the specific failure? Then we can discuss that aspect more specific to your description.

I think by failure he may mean the overdrive maybe seizing?

The problem with speculation is that it's, well, speculation. Haven't seen an overdrive fail yet. They're quiet, smooth, and so far have shown to be very reliable. Playing devil's advocate (to myself?) I would say that like any mechanical system, using your good sense is the best safety measure out there. Doing a WOT pull and feel a hesitation or a new sound? Get out of the throttle, POD or no POD. This hasn't happened, but let's say your POD starts sounding like the drummer from AC/DC. Stop driving your car. Call or email us. We stand behind our products, and we'll work with you to sort out what's going on (whatever that ends up being).

I think this speculation comes from the Helix and the fact it was cracking the mounting points and causing issues to vacuum. They later released an improved mount, but the social damage was done...

Is this a problem you've known about/planned around, @PFS ?

And broke with mounts. Vibration is an absolute killer of everything. Had nothing to do with "wearing out" ... but the original poster of this went dark once we started asking questions. I just don't put much stock in "hit and run" posters.

For sure, I agree with your points.

I wasn't trying to fuel any fires here, just wondering if that was a consideration. It seems like the balancing and different gears should reduce a lot of vibration. I also don't want to rely on the hopes that the improvements will remove the possibility of a vibration related incident.

I am certainly in the market for more fueling, with larger turbos on their way. :p

Chris @ PFS has been great. But honestly @martymil would have whined like a stuck pig if this thing was vibrating. 5k miles with him convinces me enough to go for it.

We approached the problem via a different mechanism; stop needless vibration through a robust design that's smoother, and a properly designed brace (that's far away from knock sensors).

Straight cut gears are cheap, and while awesome on dog boxes, they're not as strong and for damned sure not as quiet. Bad choice IMO. Avoid those and you can side step a slew of issues -for a price.
