Hi,
Just wanted to have an outlet for my JZ swap.
Back near the end of 2020 I was having some boost control issues (torn diaphragm, sticky guide).
30ish psi on some pump gas later, I began to have have what felt like ignition break up no codes or anything just misfires on the top end... so clearly its just my coils and stuff because n54 strongk and I just put a fresh TiAL on etc..
parked the car for a while, bought a bunch of stuff, of course I didn't do a comp or leak down test during that time because hey man, its just plugs, coils, walnut blast, 02's duhh.
So I finally got around to putting the Re-flex, PI, and a few other goodies I had collected while I had the car in the garage.
Step one was to carbon clean, and install the PI so off I went, I was taking a look with a flashlight just to see how much carbon I had got with 30k and no PI.

Cyl.3 was barely open, but just enough that when the flashlight hit it the score reflected back... borescope came out... anger sadness frustration and amusement all at one time

So n54 is toast... my first thought was hey man, its just a ring/land.. 20 thou and some forged stuff later and your all set!
Started doing my homework, called a few engine builders. Reality sets in... why put forged pistons and rods and all that effort in if the bores will just oval, seems logical, so close the deck! its a street car, cooling issues are figured out etc.. Oh wait I'm on the west coast and CSS is back east... not ideal but yeah sure doable.
Ok time to look at timing components.. OUCH ok... wait a minute man I dunno, maybe I should just toss in a junk yard motor and call it a day.
Many beers and a short trip to ebay later..

Port injection: HAS
6 Cyl: Is 6 CYL
Aftermarket support? Y/N: Y
Interference?: None (with 264's)
I have been around JZ's for the last decade, keeping this other car alive. after enough thought at least for me if I'm going to build an engine I want one that I'm more familiar with
I wanted to do an m52b28, I have a few under my belt, great engine, oversquare, no weird harmonics, great note.. really love them
But the JZ had the AC compressor in the right place, and I could use off the shelf manifolds, without making really strange oil drains and stuff, felt like a no brainer.

So the N54 came out, some more parts were accumulated, n54 stuff was purged.

The JZ is in, the Maxx Ecu is about 80% of the way in, figuring out all the fitment/mock up/Harness things before I take it down to the machine shop.
Its getting:

-Balance, TQ plate etc.. normal prep
-Manley 9.5:1 pistons.
-Manley rods.
-ACL bearings.
-GTE pump, ported, not shimming (no oil squinters/GE block), External feed (for cooler, therm, filter), then back into the center port/filter base.
-ARP l19 headstuds.
-AGE 625 Mains (billet if I can find a local machinist that can/will do it, might have to go down to PDX for that.)
-New GTE vvti head, Supertech seals, BC bronze guides, BC stainless STD valves. Gasket matched, Pocket port if I have time.
-BC 264's.
-SPA t4, S366.
The Drift HQ mounts put the engine pretty far forward, Its to allow the gs6 to sit in its home, and keep the driveline stock/happy.
they say the stock fan fits, but I haven't seen any else with that, so yeah it doesn't really fit, but...
I wanted the stock fan, and rad stack, so some cuts were made... I was able to push it forward and tilt it slightly to get about s54 in an e30 clearance, so its TIGHT, but its there. This was using the Drift HQ mounts. I might look into some mounts I've found from a guy in Poland, just waiting to hear back about how short his linkage ended up being with the Gs6 and PMC plate.

Ill try and keep this thread alive as I go
I have also attached a diagram (might not be perfect I'm just a dude with MsPaint) for anyone putting a Maxx Ecu Race in an e9x/e8x, or pretty much any standalone, would be awesome if anyone with better brain, eyes took a look. happy to hear any input or advice.
