I thought I had already toggled the “invert signal” required for boost box 3. So what was going to be my test map with 0% wgdc turned out to be 100%. Wot one sec, boom the next, Hanging rpm and no throttle. I thought I had blown the motor because the explosion was insane. Haha

The extreme overboost and throttle closure cause some sort of misfire/backfire. Ended up getting towed home.

One intake manifold and throttle body later the car is running fine.

Love it!
How much boost pressure do you estimate caused the manifold to explode? 40 or 50 psi? (Do you have a log haha!)

This is really a great one. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of someone’s N54 manifold exploding due to over boost. Thanks for sharing.

I actually do have the log. I didn’t think it was the boost pressure in the intake that caused it to explode. The throttle blade closed so the motor didn’t see the boost pressure. Something caused some kind of backfire. Not really sure what still. Port injection wasn’t hooked up or anything.

You hang that in the garage for historical proof it happened....Every experience is a later story to tell...

True. It’s funny to look back at it now. I wish I could have seen my own face. Lol

I'm dealing with something right now actually...
I went to change the diff fluid, and the 5" plastic hose from the handheld pump to suck out the old fluid fell into the diff and got stuck. I could not for the life of me get the tube out, although I spent hours trying. Ended up having to remove the diff to remove the cover to get the hose out.

I've lost my favorite 10mm socket to the hot side of my engine bay the other night. In fact i dropped a couple nuts and am not able to find them either. Hopefully they don't make their way into any pullies.

Run a magnet tool down there and spend some time poking around. I did the same ... took a while to find it.

Had the car on jack stands with an engine brace on top to install 034motorsport engine mounts (which were not worth it). Finished everything underneath the car, and removed the brace from above. Friends brought the car down on the two jacks. As the hood couldn't be fully open in the garage while up on stands, it came slamming down.

I removed the brace but forgot to unscrew the tow hook off the top. Nice dent in the middle of the hood. Whatever labor costs I saved went into a new hood + paint.

How would this be possible ? The subframe was dropped already and he was having trouble lining it back up to put it back together ????
