DME Unlocking

New to the forum...first time poster.

Quick question: Will a '08 e82 with n54 need the DME unlocked? I've read many comments and it seems to be on a case-per-case basis. Just want to make sure I'm ready when I tune...

All DMEs need to be unlocked to tune them. The unlock is sometimes called the RSA bypass for this platform and can be done via OBD, but in general it's just a method of flashing and running modified data on the ECU.

Any tuning solution for the N54 will include the unlock as standard. It's why the first flash will typically take a bit longer.
