Do we think it might be worthwile to put together a list of people with e9x n54's that would beta test and pay for devolopment of this platform to send to xhp?

So what would one exactly sign up for? How much of development costs are we talking about? Could unfinished flashes cause harm, for example, to the mechatronics?

Personally, I don't think the problem is solvable.

They are likely focusing on F80 and know it will take quite some time to get the tune right and all the different levels, packages, fine tuning. This will probably take a very long time.

Once that is done, they could focus on E Chassis. The exploit is probably the same and if they release it as a flasher only, then they don't make the bulk of the money in the form of tunes and it just opens the door for someone else to come in and make the lion's share of the money off their hard work. The flasher license itself is usually not where the money is made, based on what I've seen of the pricing model.

Would it be worth while reaching out to e9x M3 DCT owners. I would imagine they would be interested in this too.

Isn't the DCT awesome as is, or am I missing something?

Lots of room for improvement IMO. If you've heard this DCT on a stand alone the difference is quite stark.

In my opinion, we may want to consider a stand alone solution. Currently we do not do this much because it means opening the box and soldering wires. I think Maxecu mentioned they have a maxxecu mini that should be able to do this over canbus for a reasonable price. I bet they would include the tcu cracking as part of the unit. I think putting our funds in that direction may be more productive.

Not at all... I find my DCT to be far worse than a standard automatic unless I am ripping through gears in 'M', and at that point why does the 'consumer' DCT exist? It struggles with slow moving traffic, it creeps forward from a stop when I don't want it to, it never feels like it is my co-pilot. I struggle with the transmission never knowing when to shift or eagerly early shifting when I am driving spirited (how is this such a difficult concept when it could priming gears for me?).

I am just wanting the M3 DCT logic in which it doesn't creep forward, I can control the shift logic to a point... Fast shifts be damned for me.

My personal request is to use the M3 DCT flash with the 2.56 rear end. Does that require a box to intercept? Fine.

:)

I see your point. Interesting... I never thought about it that way.

I guess after eight years of driving this thing, I have just gotten used to never using the automatic modes for spirited driving and therefore never get disappointed with them. Swapping modes all the time has just become a natural part of driving, especially since I cant really use normal + D mode anymore due to M4 flywheel "chatter" in higher gears at low rpm.

If I could have one wish though, it would be that all modes shifted the same way that DSC=off + M mode does. Ie not too fast and not too slow.

Ah. Very different use cases!

I love ripping manual gears in the car but I don't want to *have* to manual shift every time; what is the point of the 'automatic' part? If I am poppin' gears up/down for the entirety then the DCT is alllll good for me. :D

The trouble is when I get tired of clicking buttons and I want the DCT to behave like most other cars. D mode is lethargic until it suddenly turns into SPACEX flight. S mode is a bit better but it likes to cling to gears needlessly but at the same time early shift. D Sport is just a faster 'actual shifting 'lethargic' mode and S Sport is just obnoxious to me.

If the M3 DCT programming is no better then I need to just get rid of the car or swap manual. The car is paid off so my goal is to improve what I've got. Seems like other people have bigger ambitions?

I've heard of

- FD ratio
- M Logic to retain 'last used mode'
- M Mode engagement
- Clutch pack pressure adjustment

I actually don't mind the auto mode, except for the M4 flywheel chatter in higher gears and low rpm, but i only see that when the car is cold. I would love all of the M stuff, but my biggest complaint is the Autoshift at redline, it is really annoying when the car shifts to the next gear much too early due to wheelspin.

Has anyone diagnosed the chatter? Do we need more weight added or something?

No idea as well. I have never been in an M3/4 so I don't know if they chatter at all. I never feel the chatter, I can only hear it in certain scenarios. At idle, it sort of sounds like a throw out bearing, but I believe you can get rid of that by raising the idle via MHD. I never tried it because it doesn't bother me. The only other time I hear anything is when the car is in auto mode and quickly shifts into 7th gear. You can hear it between 1700 to 2000ish rpms when the car is cold, but for whatever reason when the motor is fully warm this sound doesn't happen anymore. Other than that, it is 100% like stock.

Have you ever listened to the helix chatter? It also goes away when the car is warm. It is related to the temp/pressure tables.

I haven't but i heard it can be tuned out. Would be interesting if there is something tune related that would completely get rid of the flywheel chatter scenarios. Supposedly, bumping the idle a tiny bit gets rid of any idle chatter, cold or warm. But, i haven't tried it because it doesn't bother me.

I don't mind paying for a piggy back it'll do more things like launch etc but I like the idea of stock like look and feel when using it.
The drive logic sport buttons, the M3 gear indications on the dash etc. Its more of a seamless experience IMO.
