Look it up cherry picking google is your friend
The burden of proof is on you Marty. You’re the one claiming the opposite of what everyone else in this thread believes. You’re also the only one in here trying to cause drama.

The burden of proof is on you because you say there is, Bmw racing is disagreeing with you with their latest race car.

There is no room for anything on the underside of the bonnet on the 2 series, keep making shit up to try and justify your sill argument.

Without seeing the rest of the aero package, you are reaching. Prove your point with that car with full imagery, and we can have an adult discussion. My argument is that where air travels, there is aero. If you disagree with that, then we are not even having the same conversation.

Why are you so angry Marty?

Why do you have such a problem here? @The Convert posted a video about aero and the very first thing you said in this thread is:

This thread is scaremongering shit by the op.

If you don't like the thread, just just don't post in it. You seem to have nothing constructive to add. I am so confused about what point you are trying to make. Every post is just an insult. I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish.

You can't look at a picture of one car and say you fully understand why the engineers made the aero decisions they did and those decisions on that one car should be implemented in all aero designs. Where I practice engineering it doesn't work like that.

I posted a picture of a car showing vents 1/3 to 1/2 back on the hood and a discussion by the owner explicitly stating he kept the cowl to prevent air from entering under the hood in that location because of the high pressure zone created at the base of the windshield. Do I think that every car should have cowl in all circumstances and hood vents in that exact location? NO!

@doublespaces can you do something here? @martymil is polluting this thread with juvenile insults that is inhibiting a conversation that otherwise might be enlightening. Is there some self policing mechanism to limit his involvement?

I know there have been numerous discussions on this in the past between those that chopped their coweling up, swapped to M3, or removed it all together. I can't find it, so I am putting this here. The portion of the video discussing the pressure zones and direction of airflow through the engine bay start around 7:00-7:30. Great watch overall and recommend it to everyone interested in modding.

@doublespaces please fix if not done correctly, but be gentle, it's my first time.

You guys love to cherry pick, i don't have a problem with the video except its full promotional self advertising.

Look what he stated in the original post its all about the engine cowling, linking to a video has nothing to do with under bonnet aero.

You guys don't like being proved wrong and here is the diarrhoea that is being pushed about under bonnet aero.

The portion of the video that I referenced directly discusses under hood aero and the affects of lifting the back of the hood, and removing the coweling, has on aero.

Why are you so defensive Marty? Is this all because I called you to the carpet on you saying you know all about casting, and had nothing to say when I asked what involvement you had in the casting process?

The reason they leave the cowl in is to stop oil and coolant from going all over the windscreen especially in a race car as engine failures happen a lot,

Now imagine going 130mph plus and your enter a long sweeping bend and your engine blows.

I can't even...
