Quick Update:
Ordered the Precision Racewerks Ignition System soon as it went public. Got it pretty quickly. I love how quick PR ships out their stuff! I am very impatient and they always seem to ship everything out so quick. Anyways, ripped apart the box and inspected the kit. It seems like really good quality! Like 10/10 typa stuff. The rail was solid and heavy, felt good. The connectors for the wiring seemed like OEM quality so that was a plus. The wire loom was, well wire loom lol. same crap.
Initial thoughts:
Very good quality kit
Connectors seem like OEM
Install tips:
Get extra wire loom. When installing mine, I wanted to re-loom everything so just grab extra cuz you'll need it.
Take your time during the de pinning process. You don't want to rush it and break the existing connectors cuz you'll be SOL then.
Use electrical tape along with the provided zip ties to completely secure the ends of the wire loom. You want that extra insurance that it won't come off.
Overall thoughts:
Everyone with an N54 with upgraded turbos or Single turbo should get this kit. Heck, even stock turbo guys pushing them to the limit should have this kit. I wonder how long these coils will last, and how PR will handle shipping extra sets of just coils. Im at 27psi with NGK 95770 and no misfires at all. Idle seems smoother and car is a tad quieter. I am still on the stock tune for the ignition system and will be updating it once its available on MHD. I have GTR plugs ( NKG 93026 ) on order, gonna gap those at .020-.026 and see how it handles it. Also, I ordered some LED lights to wire into my Hobbs switch and ethanol gauge line and fittings n crap. Will be installing those soon too.
Went to the local Dyno day over the past weekend. Got there, waited 2 hrs to be told that an AWD car melted one of the axle straps and they couldn't find any extras. Sucks. So couldn't dyno this past Sunday. Probably gonna throw on the GTR plugs, do some logs this week and try to get on the dyno this upcoming weekend. I confirmed that my transmission is really on its last leg. The car should be around 600-650 not really sure, but my 4->5 shift is jerking more than normal and then the trans will pop out of 5th and go back into 4th. Talked to xHP and they will be sending me a custom tune to see if we can work around that. I just want to get through the summer so I can roll race atleast. Might just order the trans cooler setup with 165* Tstat and get the custom tune and pray that xHP can work their magic. Let's see what happens.
Till next time!
