The m5 pumps are on the left, the standard pump in on the right. The standard one is the same lpfp that all e60 uses, from the 2.5 all the way to the 4.8 cars.

Does the M5 have a different EKFP? Trying to sus out why the m5 bucket and dual pumps wouldn't be an obvious go-to upgrade on the E60

I just dropped a Walbro 535 in my 335is with a 450 on a hobbs switch. Blew the fuse panel on top of the battery so I have to wait for that to come in to test drive.
Using EKP3 with active cooling fan attached.

@island road Have you completed your swap to the M5 bucket? Do the electrical connectors match and do you need the M5 filter unit as well? I'm assuming the second pump will need to be wired in separate, which would be fine.

@iitsD - I have not had a chance just yet to do this. As for the filter unit I'm sure it will work fine but not sure if its actually needed.

The m5 ekp is different than all the other e60s, but will all work the same. The m5 bucket is a different setup, the bucket is the same, and will fit in the tank, but that’s about it. It’s a whole different setup, and would not be feasible unless your pretty handy. The only reason I say to run a 340, is that it’s 39mm wide, and can run in the factory screen with lower amps being pulled. Those bigger pumps work better at a constant 13.5 volts, like off a Hobbs, or relay. There is a streSt shootout on intank pumps that’s has pretty good information and a lot of graft.

PFS measured the stock pump flowing nearly as well as a 450, so when do us 5 series owners need to upgrade?

I recently tuned for E30 and the datalogs show im well in the safe zone. Is it after, say, e40-e50, where one needs to upgrade?

Or does running ethanol in general mean we must upgrade lest something break down?

After reading this i decided to try E50 in my e60. I have strong hpfp and updated lpfp from around 45k ago for warranty, and logging it in 3rd gear into top of 4th shows my lpfp not dropping below 65psi on a stage 1+ tune from MHD no jb4. Rolling on 145k miles now in terms of car age. Hidden benefits from e60 it looks like.

I believe EKP/DME target is 72psi. Running MHD flex fuel with an ethanol content sensor? Up the boost with E50 and the stock LPFP is going to dip into the high 50's low 60's.

Would having a motiv box change how much more fueling is required then the mhd e50 tune already does? My pump doesnt go below 65 all the way through 3rd and some of 4th. I didn't wind 4th completely out to redline though as i ran out of road.

My tester had an accident and is ok but delayed testing bc he was in therapy (IIRC... don't quote me on that). He has a box of parts installed and last I heard all good for now, but to be honest I have been giving him room to be a human before beating him up on results quite yet -although it's been a while, I'll reach out and see what's going on. :)

Can't fit two in the smaller diameter bucket. Recommend doing a 295 upgrade, you can do a "side car" style bucketless add-on with a 274 or 285 if you want to upgrade the existing LPFP and want to do it in-tank.
