@wheela how are you liking it, Dads thinking of picking one up here soon?
So far so good
Gotta be honest, a lot of buttons got taken away and replaced with smart screen menus, which I don't like but am getting used to. And too much automated crap that I can't fully turn off, and annoying idiosyncracies - like no comfort access available on the rear doors anymore (supposedly got ditched during Covid due to shortages but never came back). And lighting timers - when loading the kids up the dome light shuts off before I finish getting them strapped in and can't find a timer setting anywhere to fix it. And they ditched the CD player and internal hard drive options so now my old ass needs to either learn to stream or rip all my CD's to a USB drive
Actually, I may be able to download my library from my X1 hard drive to USB and take that over to the X7, but need to make time to dig into that and verify it will COPY it from my X1 and not CUT it from my X1... I'm guessing all these electronic crap complaints will apply to most new cars now though.
But really that's nitpicking, because it drives great and is very comfortable and quiet. It handles amazingly well and freakin boogies. It smokes my slow ass X1. I haven't taken dragy in there for any 0-60 runs yet, but supposedly it's much quicker than bmw claims. Car and driver says they tested and got 3.8 second 0-60. I saw a video of a guy and his dragy showed 3.99. I'm loving the car, and the color, everytime I see it the garage I just stare at it
And air suspension with adjustable ride height is awesome
No flash tuning available yet (not that the wife would let me flash this thing, lol!!), but I reached out to MHD for shits and giggles and they indicated it's on the horizon.
Long story short, I recommend it. If he does 40i vs. M60i, make sure he gets Dynamic Handling Package, it's the key to awesome handling and making the vehicle drive like a smaller car.
