Hey all x-drivers! Anybody upgrade your transfer case mount?

I saw this thread about the Twisted Tuning aluminum transfer case mount, but sounds like it adds some significant nvh. It's not clear to me if upgrading this mount is needed to avoid breaking things with higher torque/power, or if it's more for improved feel. Twisted Tuning thread:

I just found that powerflex makes some poly inerts for this mount. Below is the 70a version, but they also do an 80a and 95a version:

I think I'll try this 70a version out, but has anybody run any of these? Any thoughts on if needed vs. nice to have at higher power levels? Or at what power levels they start to become necessary?

Thoughts?

Alternatively, any feedback from people who filled the stock mount with window weld as an upgrade?

ECS tuning, yuck. I'd pay to ship those direct from the UK rather than give ECS a dime.

I'm going to reinforce the mounts on my X5D. They'll wait until I do 8HP though.

ECS = bad? Are we talking VTT level, or just annoying? I may or may not have already ordered that insert...šŸ˜²

How do you plan on reinforcing the mounts on your X5D? Do they have inserts for it, or will you just window weld the open areas?

New mount and filler. I doubt an insert exists for my truck.

As for ECS...

I've had numerous issues with ECS when they screw up, worse progressively over the last decade. Last one was a set of rotors (~1k USD for a pair), they sent wrong part, then another wrong part, then were unhelpful to get it replaced in timely manner to avoid downtime waiting for return shipping and a return took nearly 3 months to get my money back including many lies and ridiculous delays. Even when return was finally processed they refunded me less than half the original purchase amount and required multiple phone calls to correct.

Zero business from me going forward. Bad customer service, bad QC, and zero attention to detail.

Remember that sadly Turner Motorsports is now owned by ECS too.

Wow, what a nightmare... Good to know, thanks for sharing your experience with them.

FCP Euro, Bimmerworld, Pelican Parts, tons of German/UK parts sellers and independent shops here in the US are my go to now. Lots of small shops selling on eBay now which simplifies things too.

I've had to use Pelican quite a bit for my 964 build recently, they're probably the best of the bunch even over FCP but shipping is a notable expense.

Plenty of resources to choose from.

Well, the part showed up from ECS without issue. Also got a fresh transfer case mount to go with it from FCP Euro. Looking at how open the stock mount is, and how firm even this relatively soft 70A insert is, I think this insert will really stiffen things up quite a bit.

Also wanted to refresh the motor mounts, so picked up a new oem mount for the driver side, and a 335is mount for the passenger side. Hopefully this will be a good combination to shore things up a bit without adding too much nvh.

my tc was out of the car during my swap, so I did the window weld fill, classic.

can't tell if it does any difference, but the car is tight, every shift feels solid.

since Ive an exhaust, not so sure about nvh

I've had similar issues with ECS Tuning, they even sent me a suspension for a whole different car once. For me their customer service was average; luckily I never had a bad experience with getting things replaced, just the huge inconvenience of being down an extra week or two.

FCP Euro is my typical go to, but I'll have to give Pelican a shot, @ShocknAwe thanks for the info.
