Well she is going to be even better with a built motor. Would love to hear what route you take once you have it all figured out.
Finally had a chance to look at the log. I didn't know bootmod3 had an OTS map for the PS2. I am not super familiar with bootmod3, but it looks like your boost is around 10-11psi at redline but the target is supposed to be closer to 17? Do you use 91 octane?
I'm still holding out hope that it's just your turbo that's toast. I've killed two PS2s on my X3 at our 5,500 foot altitude.
Houtan, the mild wgdc on the ots tune, combined with the altitude, yields the boost deficit in the upper RPM.
If you need to rebuild it, I'd be inclined to go with @GhassanAutomotive . They're just over in Oklahoma and seem to be very experienced in BMW motor rebuilds at reasonable prices. You could flatbed your car there and drive it home. Maybe with a built motor and BigBoost 3.4?
Definitely have a hole in the block. I don't have the engine yet but the shop says it was cylinder 3 or 4 on the passenger side. I thought 6 because that was the only cylinder giving codes prior to this (something regarding burn time and not being within tolerance). Really really crazy that I didn't have any signs aside from the oil consumption.
Replacement has 22,740 miles and is coming out of an identical car (2017 X3). Build date is 4 months after my car so hoping this is the best choice. Pretty much everything will be replaced so I should get some idea for how the engine was treated in those 22K. Fingers crossed! Engine should be here in a couple weeks and then I will be able to start tearing down.
What did you pay for that motor, with shipping? Did you get it off of eBay?

Willing to check on some struts for me? For my z4 - 37116792835 & 6 (2012 z4 w/edc)Hey, sorry to hear about the car. I know a guy that works for a warehouse that supplies OEM parts directly to multiple dealerships. Trust me, its all legit and he has saved me a few times in the past with regard to cutting cost. Dealer quoted me $3700 to repair my a/c compressor and all the associated pulleys (LOL), i was able to have it all done for just shy of $600 using all OEM parts. Send the full vin and i'll see if he could be of assistance with the TC.

Just checked; i was told that those items were only available via special order. I asked for a ballpark cost figure and he was unable to give an answer because they generally don't stock it.Willing to check on some struts for me? For my z4 - 37116792835 & 6 (2012 z4 w/edc)

It's been a hell of a Friday, but I got the broken engine into storage where it will be disassembled. Ironic that I'm making the car sit down there with this curse of an engine.

I must say that is a brilliant use of the rented Home Depot truck, holy crap man. That is big brain time.
