everything new here as well....walnut blast was done about a month ago as well
Those plugs gave me the most trouble with misfires out of all I've tried, but only under boost. If you're up to it, gap them back up to .030 and see if your idle clears. Probably won't be able to boost withem there, but would be an interesting test (to me anyway lol).

What injectors are you running? I'm wondering about leaks ...

Filippo
I think your onto something with the injectors just maybe not leaks. People including me assume If afrs max out lean instantly on coast that injectors aren't leaking hence good but if spray pattern is off then a longer then stock plug ie 97506 can be a world of problems

I only suggested leaks since the rough start could be some extra fuel at the beginning. We don't know what index he's running ... yet.

Running brand new index 12s from fcp euro. When I had the 97506 gapped to .020 it gave me misfire codes during cold start.

Stock plugs fired right up without a stumble.

You should use PR coils or BL coils. They will definitely help if not fix the issue with plug power.

Is there anyone in the 6-700 whp range with stock coils and 97506 plugs who run a smooth idle

Oh...97506 plugs... I don't know, but there have been stock coils and stock plugs done at that level. I don't think they last long due to the stress though. one step is good up to past 800 whp imo... many gtr run one step even when past 900whp.

In writing this post, I came across the B58 plug: NGK 94201 - SILZKGR8B8S

It has all the same specs as the NGK 97506, except it sayts GR8 instead of BR8 in the name. So, what does the G and B mean?
After investigating this a bit further, it appears the B58 plug has some slight differences - Nickel/Nickel Alloy ground tips for the 97506, vs Copper/Iridium for the 94201 - and a major difference of having a cup-type electrical terminal on the 94201. While my plug knowledge is limited, it sounds like the B58 plugs should last longer due to the iridium tips and more ceramic shielding.

However, will the cup-style terminal fit with any of our coil options? Just judging from online pictures, the B58 coil looks closer to a "naked" R8 style coil than any of our other options, but I have no clue if theyre actually similar in shape at all, or if that even matters. Though I'd be very interested in running them if they'd fit and really are just better N20 plugs.

Especially if they interface r8 coil better cause the r8 has like that button in the coil instead of sliding over plug tip

I've run 25 psi on GC turbos with port meth injection, stock coils and 95770s gapped to 0.45mm.
Worked great. Near perfect timing. Gave the 97506 a go and the timing wasn't as good.

Over 25 psi the flywheel vibrations and false misfire detection was an issue. So that's where I've stayed for now.

Never been afraid to remove these plugs, re-gap them and thread them back in. It never seems to have been an issue.
I'd only ever re-gap a problematic cylinder and usually my timing corrections went away after that.

The thing is I spray lots of water and methanol so the in cylinder temps are probably very low compared to other cars.
E85 may well be close though. Water has the edge in cooling.

Setup is JB4, FBO, Stage 2 bucketless pump, DIY meth port injection, DCT

Oh and to clean the spark plug holes I used some cotton wool soaked in alcohol clamped on some foreceps I use for pike fishing.

I've now got BL harness and R8 coils to try and make the sparks stronger. Maybe it will sort what I have suspected is the flywheel issue. We will see.

What do you guys suggest as plugs Running PR coils? , had few issus with the aluminum crush washer as i removed and istalled the same plugs many time.

my tip for cleaning the spark plug holes: nylon Rifle cleaning brush and carb cleaner soaked wool from a rifle cleaning kit

Speaking from my experience on my car, timing corrections were more affected by AFR, fuel delivery (I run E85 and pi), vanos, etc. Running 2 step colder NGKs and the rest is tuning tweaks.

2 step? You have upgraded turbos or something?
