Will you just update this again already? @V8bait :tearsofjoy:

Sorry got caught up in the holiday so had some delays.

Coolest thing here is the relocated inlet install, who else does it like me? I'm interested

For the clutch I decided on the Motiv twin disc. I have heard good things about its power handling and driving characteristics. I am not a huge fan of pucked designs like the M-Factory twin disc and spec 3+ and wanted something full-face since I plan to drive the car still. Motiv fit the bill. Of note, install is tricky with the twin disc. @Chris@VargasTurboTech did an EXCELLENT write-up on the Spec unit here, which is very similar to the Motiv. Cliff notes- buy better bolts, buy the proper alignment tool, use the proper torque sequence. Things I should have done- GREASE THE HELL OUT OF THE TOB.

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the install but Chris's post is detailed and does a great job.

Here's and interesting tidbit, had some engine stuff laying around and noticed the 6at and the 6mt use different weight crank pulleys. 6mt is lighter by around 2lbs.

Otherwise engine install was pretty straightforward. Having the engine out to install the turbo's and all the extras is really handy compared to doing it on the floor on jack stands. Go ahead and ask how I know...

Now one thing I like to do that I've learned not many other people do is related to the coolant reservoir relocation. Most people run the line about 50 or 60 feet from the passenger to the driver side. I feel like this is excessive, so I always tap into the heater core line with a brass T and cap the thermostat output with anything I can find as such:

It's so much cleaner like that.

Just be careful with the top radiator hose or this might need to happen when you break off the nipple:

Ultimately everything was pretty smooth going together

Unfortunately, despite all the work, on prime there was a nice leak from the turbo's. I don't know if it was my fault or my buddies, we were both in a hurry but suffice it to say, as easy as the build was with the motor out, I got to do the turbos a second time, this time with the engine still in the car. I have a feeling it may have been the install kit too though, I thought it was BMW however it turns out it was mostly not original BMW. The factory O-Rings installed smooth and fixed the issue. I'll say this, the GC's splitting from the manifold made it a lot easier.

Not the prettiest thing (yet) but now 100% functional

Dyno next?

What am I missing about the inlet install? Do you mean the hose to the reservoir?

I have my coolant reservoir and ps reservoir placements swapped, and it sucks because the coolant reservoir stuck up just enough to put a small dent in my new lci Hood šŸ˜¢.

Pretty sure I was the first to tap into the heater return hose several years ago. Glad to see more people doing it. Makes hose routing sooooo much easier and cleaner.

Which friction material did you go with for the clutch?

The kits come with this crazy long hose to route to the driver side. Instead I just capped the outlet from the t stat and tapped the heater line near the reservoir. Clean and easy.

So I bought a 335d reservoir but the vrsf cp doesnā€™t work with it, so I returned it and just fabbed a bracket to my strut tower brace things. Secure and good to go.

You may have been, I know I helped install a friends in 2016 or 2017 (just before MMP solid 20 piece outlets came out, before the silicone outlet scandal) and we looked at it and threw that long hose in the trash. You and I must be in the same club!

I went with whatever Jake @MOTIV Motorsport sold me on with the SST, carbon I think but might have a Kevlar face on one, heā€™d know better. I trusted him so weā€™ll see, so far so good. First gear is a royal PITA and the chatter under load from 2500 to 4K is... unbecoming?... but such is how I go about living my best life I suppose.

I bought from the first batch of clutches a few years ago when it was still ptf and got the ceramic discs when I thought I was getting the carbon. The ceramic have horrible drivability. Would be interesting to find out for sure what you got and compare. Iā€™ve considered spending the money on new discs, but havenā€™t gone through with it.

How in the world did I not see this thread earlier. Comedy Gold of the century...loving it.

Thanks for the tuning you did on Lawrence's car btw, thing boogies like no other for just 21lbs. I have yet to install the last revised map you sent me. And +1 on Tony, hes helped me out in a pinch several times and havent had that kinda customer service from anyone else in the industry.

any reason why you passed on going double shotgun setup?

So mine is full faced discs, one is sprung one solid, and they were both black friction material on both sides so carbon unless they used some special mix. It was really harsh at first but it's getting better, first gear is the only annoyance. It's lighter than many for pedal but it's inconsistent for the grab, if you drive it semi aggressive it's really really nice, if you're trying to be slow and smooth... nope. I knew going into this I didn't want a ceramic pucked disc.

I dunno, I love the idea of staying DI only, but PI has come a long way. I have been debating doing some r&d things and wanted to develop a new and improved AIC map for people I've tuned so this just made sense. I wouldn't have probably made the leap without the manifold though, top feed well positioned injectors.

Speaking of that, who wants a stratified injection PI map? Why has everybody not been using stratified to begin with? Why did it take me this long to realize everybody (including me) was setting up their AIC wrong? Big better. Bet.

Awesome build from the best tuner ever šŸ’ŖšŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ.
Can you please explain how did you route the hoses on the catch can? I see one going back to the turbo inlet for high side, but on low side did you connect to the intake and was that from the bottom of the catch to intake?
Thanks
P.s that 650whp setup is going to hurt a lot of feelings :)

There was a look at the stratified tables that arenā€™t active for the di many years ago, but nothing happened with them. No clue about using a stratified strategy for the pi, or stratified di in combination with pi or stratified pi.
