Is it possible to disable my injectors on the PI rail with Reflex+ ? I'm troubleshooting a misfire on Cyl 1 and would like to keep the Reflex in the loop for ethanol content via CanBus but turn off PI.

Which connector goes to the fuel pressure sensor? The manual says orange and brown wire. I'm a little color blind, so I can't see brown and orange colors in those :laughing:.

None of the connectors you posted are Orange or Brown, The Fuel Pressure input wires at Pin 24 and 23 are Red and LT Blue respectively., You can also just keep trying them until you see a fuel pressure value in MHD.

Thank you. Can the fuel pressure be seen directly through Tunerpro's Data list view without adjustment, or does the MHD engine tune have to be ready and then it can only be seen through the MHD and Data list view?

I'm having issues now that I've updated from v2.56 to V4.2. I updated the firmware on the reflex and had Jake move my old 2.56 tune to 4.2 so I could use can bus integration.

I added the can bus wires to the ECU fallowing the instructions, updated the firmware to using the V44 RFX PLUS SN 501+ ALL .hex file, and then wrote the new tune Jake gave me, and now neither my PI nor my boost control work. When I tell MHD to log the "reflex aux 1 output DC" or "reflex PI base" they just stay a constant value. I'm not getting any errors in MHD. If I go full throttle I only get spring pressure, showing the aux 1 output is not working like it was on the 2.56 tune. Further, my STFT's max out at 34-36, showing my PI should be on but it's not.

Not sure what is going on, and not sure if I can go back to the old 2.56 tune and if I'd have to down rev firmware or what, but for the moment I'm stuck at spring pressure and no PI.

Hooking up to Tuner PRO RT the all data option shows map pressure, RPM, etc while the car is running, so I know the relfex seems to be at least getting its inputs. None of the values report an error either, the injector entries show "NO FAULT" same as aux 1 out.

Hmm... I have not flashed the vehicle with MHD for any can bus support..... I wonder if the reflex is in some kind of protect mode as it's not getting a can bus signal it thinks it should be.

I cannot find in the menus (as of yet) where to activate these features when flashing the map.... the Reflex manual states:
"For use with the MHD plat form select the Motiv can bus in flash time options under can bus.(not all plat forms are currently supported ) 2. This feature will allow the following safety features and revert the DME to limp mode on current supported vehicles.
-LP safety for too low of a LPpressure
-PI safety, if the ReFlex detects a fault within the PI system
- Can bus safety, If the DME loses communication via Can bus"

And I've dug through both the options and latest MHD manual and find no such thing.

I can't test more than this tonight, but I let it do a long write (which it was demanding) of the same tune and now when I try to read aux out DC instead of always reporting 60 no matter what, now it reports zero (at idle)... I'll have to test tomorrow and see if that did it.

Well, sadly the long flash did not change anything, still not outputting anything to control boost (no PWM to the MAC), and it still seems like the PI is not being driven.

Got a laptop hooked up, everything looks good, it's sending data, I see it going through its tables, map sensor, rpm, everything is working. Yet no signal to aux 1. PI may be working, maybe I just can't tell from the STFT's.

I tested the MAC valve, it's working. Applied 12v and it actuates, measured 12v source for it and it's good, measured the reflex side and got 3.5 volts (when disconnected from the MAC valve.

double checked that aux 1 output frequency is set right per manual (value 2, it is, checked that the aux mode 1 is set right (value 2), checked that the stand alone boost control switch is set to 1...

So I'm not sure why it's not working.

Did you go back and redo the patches in TunerPro ? I haven't messed with mine for a while but I remember after I did my upgrade I had to redo the patch for the 3,5bar MAP sensor.

When running tuner pro RT live data the boost lined up with what MHD was reporting, so I don't think that needs to be done, but at this point it doesn't hurt.

I noticed there is a bench test mode, wish I could figure out how to activate it as doing a bench test on the aux 1 output would be nice to at least know the driver is working.

If the only thing you changed was the software, then I would concentrate my efforts on that, it's very unlikely for hardware components to fail after a software update.

The car sat for 8 months waiting to get the engine back between then and now, so I can't rule anything out.

Well I'm going to have to try two things next when I can, I'll disable can bus and see what happens and if that does not fix it I'll flash back to 2.56 and hopefully it will work then.

Does the Reflex + need the 1-10 bar sensor input for the low pressure fuel pressure if the car (2010 535i xdrive in my case) already has a factory low pressure fuel sensor). I am done installing everything except the 1-10 bar sensor, due to not having the adapter I need to tap the sensor into the fuel line.

No the sensor is meant for cars without it, if u already have on then that sensor input can be used for something else.

“This 0-10 Bar sensor is safe for fuel pressure, exhaust gas back pressure, oil pressure, coolant pressure, and more. Paired with an ATM 2 Pin connector it is Plug-n-Play to your MOTIV Re|Flex.”

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder if something needs to be set up in the reflex settings so it looks at my factory low pressure sensor instead of trying to use the input from the Motiv sensor.

I would expect that since it is OEM the DME would already be looking at it and it should / would be log-able via MHD.

I wonder if the reflex can see the fuel pressure through the canbus network. Does anyone know how to verify I can see fuel pressure? When I get back to the car I plan on logging to check that everything is wired properly. I’ll check for fuel pressure when I do this

Anything the Reflex does is dictated by programming, it has to know what data to pull . There are 3 or 4 CAN systems in the car flooded with constant information and since the reflex only accessed what it needs, RPM, BOOST etc. it’s safe to say NO it will not show fuel pressure if you do not select it in MHD. I think your best bet would be to run two sensors, one for the DME and one for the Reflex.

I checked the logs, and the fuel pressure on the reflex is currently looking at the sensor that is not plugged in at the moment. I looked at the manual and the tunerpro tables but could not find anything related to using the car’s stock fuel pressure sensor. The adapter I need to run the Motiv sensor should arrive today. It looks like that one is going in. I just hate to add another potential failure point to a system that might not need it.
