It's been a long time coming but, Synchrotech Transmissions is giving us an M Factory Group Buy discount of 20% at 10 or more units, and 25% for 20 or more units...

All the BMW helical LSD’s are $800 @ 10 or more units sold (20% OFF!!)

If we buy 20 or more units it will cost $750 @ 25% OFF!!!

if you have a bolted diff then this can be a great option for you, as it can be bolted into your current diff, if you have a welded diff, like myself, a good option would be to buy a fully built unit (pumpkin), and send back your core (old diff) as the installation of the LSD unit is a not a DIY process, therefore would require LOTS of downtime and confusion...

for welded diff people, we have the option of purchasing in entire fully built LSD pumpkin and send back the core for a refund, the core refund is 500$, which is payed upfront along with the price of the fully built pumpkin...
Fully built pumpkins will be discounted @ 15% when we reach 10+ units
E.g. $1999 LSD fully built for $1699 after core refund of 500$

if anyone if looking to change the gear ratio it is an extra 300$ i.e 3.08 to 3.46:1

The fully built diffs have the Backlash and wear pattern, as well as the preload set

the cores would need to be shipped back to them in California

you can check their website for any info they have listed: (the price difference is based on welded or bolted as welded requires machining)

Once the orders are payed for and shipping is payed for we will add all the LSD’s to our stock order. Those usually take about 4-6 weeks to get to us and then we will ship them to the customers from here.

The gear ratio depends on what unit you are working with. We will not offer any custom gearing in the group buy

The reusable parts like bearings will be retained. The axle seals will be replaced. There is a master rebuild option which includes brand new bearings etc. Please see the syncrotech link earlier in the thread for those prices.

The 800$ (At 10+ units discount) Helical LSD unit is just the unit as i understand... the fully built pumpkins have new axle seals, and are set for backlash, wear pattern, and preload... so regular rebuild comes with seals, and is freshened up to the max, there is a master rebuild kit like Doublespaces mentioned... check out their online page as he also mentioned for more info... the master rebuild would come with everything from the master rebuild part kits on the site...

So the difference between the regular rebuild vs the master rebuild kit is that it comes with new bearings? What does new bearing benefit and is it recommended to switch them out when doing the diff?
How much extra is it on top is it for those that are in the group buy?
I looked at their shop online and it seems like they don't do installs.

Depends on how fast we get buyers... If we get to the 10+ level quickly (we are at 7, and you would be 8, if you want in), then I'll try and hold for 20+ For greater discount, if not then we will go in at the 10+ level... which would mean you pay 800$ just for the unit... let me know if you decide to be a "dedicated buyer" and want on the list, considering the discount is pretty good at 10+, I'll probly try to just go in at 10... in the end it's whatever the group wants to do
