Put a Walmart on that ass, love it!

I wish carabuser tuned n55's. I may bug him about it when the time comes😀
😂 oh ya. I’m already bugging him with b58 stuff. Sending him logs of how bad ots tunes are. Plus the man has two DCT n54’s. One should be a B58

Maple syrup is only required for high horsepower applications. It helps by sealing the head when it lifts, the syrup caramelises between the head and the block preventing coolant from entering the combustion chamber.

Sounds more plausible than these mythical index 1 injectors that work better than the 12 revisions that came after.

Does it matter if it is Canadian or American Maple syrup?

According to BMW's TSB from 2014, the internal filter and optimized thermal compensating oil were introduced on the index 11 injectors, not the index 12 injectors:

Also, in considering the number of revisions, everybody seems to forget about the original part! I assume the original part 13537537317 didn't have an index number and was likely different from the index 1s, as it had a different part number.

I looked into the original part number a bit more, and I am baffled. According to realoem.com, the original part number 13537537317 was only an active part number from 06/01/2006 to 01/15/2007. Yet I have found pictures showing injectors with this part number and with indices 8 and 10!!??!! How is this possible???

I assumed the original injector part number would have no index number. Certainly BMW and VDO did not plan from the very beginning to have a dozen versions of the part??

Also, there is more than a bit of anecdotal evidence that 13537565138 - index 1 injectors are the most robust version of all versions. But even if it is the most reliable, and even if cost cutting was the cause for all the index revisions, I assume 13537565138 - index 1 injectors could not have had the internal filter and thermal compensating oil of the most recent 13537585261 - index 12 injectors.

I don't think there's any truth in the idea that the injectors changed for the worse. It's just hard to stomach that £2k for a new set of injectors.

In my experience tuning vehicles, almost every customer with anything older than index 11 has some leakage issues or phantom knock which I suspect is often down to bad spray patterns.

On a car with fresh injectors and O2 sensors, the trims are almost always predictable and matching and they can be pushed harder with less timing corrections being evident.

The moment you start dealing with old injectors you see issues. The cars will still run ok, maybe not with a smooth idle, but well enough for most owners to not be aware.
