This is your only choice? Not considering any others?
No I am just curious about their performance as they look like one of the biggest sets of twins available. I think singles spool to slow for my liking. Got GCs right now, although I've limited these to 20 psi in the lower rev range.
I happen to be friends with another major, well-known tuner (I'm not referring to my tuner, whom I'm also friends with, just to be clear): anyway over lunch, that guy said the same thing you just did: Pure. And he's been in the business for years. In this market, when well-known tuners with lots of experience (seeing lots of mod cars) say a vendor's name as reliable, that's about as high praise as they can get.I still feel from experience, Pure has the most reliable turbos. they aren't infallible but i personally havent seen them fail at anywhere close to rates of others. But they do give a really good bang for buck.
Mmp stage 3s are better then the 1k cause manifold is difference and every seeded turbo guy that examines them says same thing. Their is no benefit to increasing the runner size because of the exhaust port size and flow, especially without smooth transition plus you want velocity and heat both things reduce when you increase volume . That's why 1k are not performing as well as original stage 3s.
3 years humping those turbos, it seems to me you already have the answer to what you replace them with should the eventually wear outYes 100% agree.
If mine finally fail I'm considering what else I could go to.
What rpm do you make full boost and the lag is where hydra shines you can be part throttle and transition to full instantly. The 650s are actually smaller than gc lites slightly but the volute is 10 percent bigger than s55 turbos so they flow more than gc lites so in your case you could make same power with better spool or go with 800s and make more power with prob same spool cause I think they are like a 19t. What is nice is the fact that he uses a Mitsubishi turbine not a clone. Now that I bought my 550 I am thinking of purchasing n54 head and 800s from hydra cause I love my 650s they feel better than my friends tuned m5 and way better than pure turbo builds I've been in. Even the owner of the shop ct said he couldnt believe how much better than pures on a s55 or n54 it is. He did say n55 with upgrade turbo feels good but still nothing like the hydras and he thought they were gonna lag like a mofo so kept telling me to not expect stock response.Yes 100% agree.
The hybrids are doing the same numbers as the mmp1ks but with the quicker spool.
My GCs have survived 3 years so far. Have dynod 620whp on virtual dyno with 1.01 setting. Spool is so fast I have to limit boost in low rpms. Boost is capped at 25 psi for now. Have run 27 and could run 30psi but I'm trying to remain trouble free.
