Preface

The BMW DCT on the E chassis comes with an extra damper of some sort that adds about 10 pounds to the flywheel. Not only does this add quite a bit of weight to the rotational assembly but it also is suspected to induce some vibrations/chatter at higher power levels, tripping the knock sensors on the cylinders closest to it, 5 and 6.The initial solution discovered was to use an M4 flywheel which eliminates that extra mass. This is the M4 F chassis Flywheel(Left) and the E chassis Flywheel(right):
There are issues with this solution:

Product
The next step is to produce a true aftermarket flywheel with both 8 bolt and 6 bolt crank configurations, which @MFactory is available to do.
The price for the DCT SMFW is $499.95, weighs 7kg(15.5lb), which is 9kg(17.5lb) less than the factory E Chassis DCT flywheel, and even 8lb lighter than the M4 flywheel. So even if you aren't having misfire issues, this flywheel is substantially lighter and is an upgrade for anyone with a car housing a compatible DCT flywheel.

Group Buy
Please vote on the poll for which option you want. You can see who has signed up by clicking the vote count. Once there are ten 8 bolt signups or ten 6 bolt signups, 50% deposits will be paid and a sample unit will be created and tested. If it works then rest will be produced.
UPDATE: The 6 and 8 bolt designs will be produced in the same batch!

There are issues with this solution:
- The M4 Flywheel can be hard to find for a decent price
- The flywheel is still heavier than a true aftermarket flywheel(23lb vs 15lb)
- It only comes in 6 bolt flavor and isn't an option for many who do a DCT Swap

- For 8 bolt cars, the designs are ready to go, we just need you to sign up for the group buy.
- For 6 bolt cars, please sign up but MFactory still requires a sample unit to confirm the PCD on the holes first.
