Saw the aftermath of a fire under the hood of my friends car.... makes me want to get one. I would like a clean set up for it though. Not just rolling around in the trunk or on the floor board.

If anyone wants a simple solution, take a look at the Bracketeer. Customer testimonials for a m235i and e46 m3, unsure for the e9x platform. If this doesn't work out I was going to build a custom one using punched angle iron and flat bar from home depot bent to shape.

Looks like it could be used to fabricate a better one (maybe). I don't like that the intent is for it to bolt to the seat rails which makes it stick out so bad as many of the photos show.

The one in my 535 moves with the seat so it stays tucked in. The bracket I started to make for the Z4 would do the same but I learned I don;lt have the right tools to cut heavy steel so I put that project aside for another day.

just for reference the onboard suppression systems used in race cars is of a dry chem type. Ive seen it first hand in Magnus Racing's 911s and the Audi R8s.

One tech accidentally set it off and it filled the car with a purple cloud of dust and smoke, and subsequently had to take everything out the car and clean it all individually bit by bit. Its main purpose is to suppress the fire and save the driver at the expense of everything else, but if nothings burning it needs to be cleaned off ASAP otherwise a lot of expensive electronics go to waste.

Here is one built supposedly for the 3/4 series. It sticks out more than I'd like but its an option I suppose:

i posted this earlier that attaches to the button of the seat so it moves with the seat just like oem. after the bracket you can buy w/e quick release you like.

im looking at this and I haven't decided on a quick release or mount yet. I do like the oem style made by BKauto

Two things, that is a B and not C extinguisher. So I'd suspect its not so good with electrical? Second, from what I can figure, I don't like either of those mounts(the one I showed nor the one by bkauto). They stick out too far compared to the official BMW mounts which are seat specific.

Yes, those do look very similar. But for my at least, my brackets do not look like that. If that bracket fits your car, then it will -probably be a good option. There is a bracket and then there is a holder. The holders can probably be used with various brackets.

For example, these are the brackets prescribed to my E93:

The equivalent to that is the thing you showed me from BKauto and ECS. What I mean is, I couldn't use that bkauto bracket if I wanted to, apparently it doesn't fit my seat.
