EMF / Electronic Parking Brake and DSC

In several of the threads discussing rear brakes it's mentioned that the rear electronic brake is linked with the DSC system. Does anyone know what that tie in really is? I don't see where electronic, slow winding of the parking brake could come into play ?
Or is it a case simply that the control module itself also helps DSC, but the parking brake isn't actually in play?

Anyone have further info ?

The parking brake,,which is much more than just a parking brake is primarily connected to its own ECU..from there it talks to the DSC over the data bus..
