I buy 5 gallon cans of VP Racing Fuel E98 from K & G Speed Associates, 2343 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA (behind Nicholas Smith Trains). ‭Call first to make sure they have it in stock (610) 359-1616‬. Last time I purchased it was about $40 cash ($8/gallon). I think VP would deliver the cans, but it’s very pricey.

If my math is right that works out to about $4.90/gal for an e60 mix; Do you know why it is more expensive than higher ethanol concentrations from a retailer pump?

Part of the reason pump E85 is less expensive in my area is because they mix Ethanol with 85 octane fuel instead of 91 or 93 and I’ve never seen it test higher than E70. I bought my last (2) 55 gallon drums of E98 for $430 delivered from a local warehouse/wholesaler and mix with 91.

Sorry. Edit to $360 for the drum of E98. I was quoting an invoice for an older drum of 100 octane I bought with the $430 price. It’s still more money than E85 pump but you end up with a higher octane in western states mixing E98 and 91 pump. Not sure how pump E85 is mixed in other areas.

Good point, effective octane mixing E98 with 91 or 93 octane gas to make E50 probably even higher than using 91 and E85.

So if I start with 5 gallons of 93 octane E10 in the tank, I will have 0.5 gallons ethanol in the tank. I then dump my 5 gallon can of E98 into the tank. I now have a total of 10 gallons in the tank comprising about 5.5 gallons ethanol and 4.5 gallons 93 octane, which is E55. Total cost is (5 gallons of 93 octane x $3.35 / gal) + ($40 per 5 gal can E98) = $56.75, or about $5.675 per gallon E55.

... which you consume at ... X% greater volume per mile, making the effective cost ... hey ... welcome to Europe! lol

The great thing about E98 its dead clean, guaranteed no nasties.

Buying from the pump doesn't give you that guarantee.

You guys are lucky, we pay 5 dollars US a gallon when you do the maths for 93 and 6.6 dollars for E98 a gallon

We get screwed.
